Countdown to Vegas! A Moment with Camala Rodriguez McClure, IFBB Figure Pro
Countdown to Vegas! A Moment with Camala Rodriguez McClure, IFBB Figure Pro
By Anders J Eskilsson
The IFBB pro competitors are preparing for the greatest battle of the year. The time for the annual Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas in September is getting closer. This year is extra special since it’s the 50th anniversary of Joe Weider’s great show.
It is also time to welcome the next athlete to Rx Girl. She has a total of seven IFBB pro wins to her credit. Furthermore, she wrote history in May of this year by winning a total of three IFBB figure pro shows with the latest win at the 2014 California State Open Pro Figure! She is now eight weeks away from Las Vegas and has the Ms. Figure Olympia title in sight.

Yahoo! Your here!!!
Do you lead a healthy lifestyle year round or do you "diet" for shows and let yourself go in the offseason?

I will do my best to stay current with this forum. I am rarely new at these types of things but I think it is important to share the process and experience in the days of preparing for contest as well as how to maintain this lifestyle. I am not only preparing for a show, I am continuing a goal to maintain my health and wellness inside the scope of bodybuilding and athletic training. Thank you for your continued support!

I stay within 10-15lbs from contest weight year round. The gains that i need to make when I am off are not significant enough for me to gain the extra weight. I also believe that it is important to maintain a certain lifestyle through the principle not with one show in mind. It is maintaining everything in balance. I eat clean year round 6 meals a day but when not prepping, I keep a cheat meal in 1-3x week

Quick question for ya Camala
do you ever get tempted to jumping up to WPD? And what do you say to upcoming ladies that want to compete, how do they decide what division to enter?

Wpd
Hello there!
Thank you for your questions and support on my journey in the IFBB. When i was initially making the crossover decision in 2012, I considered WPD. I have always enjoyed the performance in competition but that was not my path.
I enjoy the way I get to condition my physique in the Figure category. To be in the position that I am now in Figure, the WPD would require me to put back on some size like I had a few years ago bc of my frame and lines. I am at a beautiful balance now so why try and fix or change something that is not broken....?
That is my thought on switching categories....have a blessed rest of your weekend!!

No temptation here! I would love to perform again but I am loving figure.
When I meet women who want to compete I look at the type of body that they are working with to help them decide. I also have them go to you tube and look up some videos of the pro's in each division to see what resonates the most with them. We evaluate where they are in nutrition and physical exercise to reach their goal and move forward from there.
