Terrible news. Just heard. Really thought he was controlling his condition. RIP big Mike. I just loved his intensity, his posing routines always brought the house down. Will be missed and remembered

I can't believe this. If this is really true, RIP Mike Matarazzo. A few years ago, I made a mistake breaking this news somewhere else..... He had always looked invincible to me.

When I lived in Marina Del Rey my first job was working the salad bar at the Sizzler, this was 1994. Mike used to in pretty often and I would just get an extra container of eggs and bring them to his table. He would be there with Sandy Ridell. I also saw him many times at Golds o f Venice but he never put 2 and 2 together that I was "the egg guy"?
Rest in Peace Mike.Gone but not forgotten, I remember you too Dookie!

He was the first Pro I had ever seen. It was 1999. I was 16 and mike was in the prime of his career taking top 10 at the Olympia that year. I remember hardly believing what I was seeing when he was guest posing. Looked like he walked right out of a comic book.
He was also very cool and down to earth the other times I met him over the years as he would guest pose here regularly under weider nutrition. He was a true fan of the sport himself.
I remember one year here at the southern USA's he sat at the judges table pretty much through the whole show. Then when the DJ started play'n some elevator music during the pose down, Mike stood up and screamed, "ah c'mon, play some fuck'n rock N roll!"
