Default Gold's Gym Venice or Venice the area vs. East Coast Mecca

Guys, everybody's heard Gold's Gym Venice is the mecca of bodybuilding. If it is, what's the food prices like for us bodybuilders, supplements and prices for HGH steroids and all the other things we need? What's it costs to train there a month, etc.? Also, the guy's on the east coast say that's also the mecca. Which is best for us bodybuilders price wise and the way people take to us? As I'm from the UK and always thought about the pros and cons.

If I was from the UK, I'd be planning a trip to Dorian Yate's Temple Gym.

Well generally CA is the most expensive state in the continental US
Now Bevs Claims to be the East Coast meca. I can't believe that Long Island, NY is a whole lot cheaper to live in

Your right hell no LI is not cheaper. A 1200sqft 2 story house in a decent area is 400K+ and its 60 years old and has to be redone! O yea taxes are about 10,000 a year too. If your lucky you can convert the basement into an appt to cover taxes.

Not sure what Bev's charges yearly but I went there 2 years ago on a visit it was 20 to train there which is pretty standard.

I'm guessing it would be a whole lot more expensive than "Jack City" ;D . In the smaller cities we live in it's a whole lot easier to have a lock on things like transport to the gym, food suppliers and especially gear contacts. You will most likely have a few guys that you know personally that you get stuff from rather than some random guy who lives a 2 hour drive away on the other side of New York or LA. As far as the popularity and level of seriousness I think on the West Coast looking in shape is compulsory like a part of their culture,work-gym-hit the beach, bike rides or the other way round whereas NY seems to be more businesslike ,work-gym-home .I think compared to the UK, the US seems to have a larger ratio of (especially women) who are focused ,even from the start, on doing it competitively. Here I see more guys doing it to either look big and impressive or intimidating or for "a six pack" whereas the majority of the women just want to drop bodyfat, they are not even interested in the fitness aspect of it. I've asked so many women over the years in and outside the gym and they don't really care how many miles ,pushups ,dips or minutes of cardio they can do. All they care about is whether they are dropping a dress size or not.

No discussion on prices of illegal products is pretty standard on forums, right?

I am a transplanted East coaster that currently lives in LA and trains at the Mecca. I can say LI and LA are both expensive places to live. Food prices etc are comparable as I would guess the gym fee. Daily rates are about $20 at each place if memory serves me correct.

Oh and I am with Curt - If I lived in the UK, I'd be heading to Dorian's guy!

i pay $25 a month for a gym membership....it's a crappy gym but it works

the east coast mecca however looks like a run down place, people say that have a ton of unique equipment but the place doesn't look like anything special.....just a dungy looking gym you can find anywhere else minus the pro's walking around

    Hit me up!

Ironbrian82 - I've paid $20 at non-Gold's gyms throughout the continental US. It's pretty standard.

I train at Gold's in Venice cuz it's close to my house and I get a free membership. I hate the other gyms around me (24hr fitness, equinox etc). IMO nothing beats the old Training center in DE I trained at back home. Good equipment, plenty of big boys lifting and no one looked at you funny if you used chalk.

$20 is usually standard for a non member. most memberships are 20-50 monthly. shit i pay 10 a month at gold here and 100 a year at another commercial gym. I might join another for 20 a month just becuase its so cheap here and contracts are monthly

Yea but all gyms charge a crazy daily rate for non members
I pay $15 a month and I can train at any of the Golds in the valley
That membership also allows me to travel to any Golds in the world for free also
