When you travel
For many of us traveling can take a little extra planning. For those who still like to hit there macros and the gym during a trip it requires a bit more research of the area where you are going/staying. Now I am just talking in general not just say a big vacation or anything. Although yes there are those who still like to follow a plan even on a big vacation just because they feel more comfortable and in control this way.
Depending on how long/type of a trip I still like to pack my own meals to eat because I just feel more comfortable doing that...and because I do not have to spend money to eat out. But that is not to say I will leave room or the option to go out to some places and adjust for it accordingly. This is usually something I do when I am going out of town for just a day or two not full on vacation.
I know this topic can be kind of sensitive because everyone feels different about what is best to do. But I would like to see what some others like to do whether it be a few days or even a week or two away from home.

like you said it depends on the length of the trip....for the most part i preplan and pack my meals for a day or two but usually i've noticed if it's business related the ppl at the meetings or whatever it may be want to go to eat that night, which isn't a big deal for me personally, i just order a healthy option
my opinion though for a vacation is you do the work before the vacation so i don't have to worry about that stuff when i'm on my vacation, vacations to me are a way to recharge my batteries from work and gym life

Vacation = Vacation, take it and enjoy it with family and friends.
We do not collect pay checks for choking down chicken and beef in tupperware when on vacation, and a few days or a week wont kill the big picture or long term results. Eat moderate portions and make reasonable choices in the end its not the end of the world.
If your traveling for a day or two I pack the majority of food, but its easy to get things and fit them in your kcals...Last edited by The Solution; 09-03-2014 at 04:38 PM.

i travel between the us and canada with my food at all times. Just declare on your customs forms! I am usually in contest prep when im travelling so it is necessary for stage. I travel with pre-cooked frozen and i travel with raw- frozen. I always carry a mini one person crock pot to heat and cook because some business hotel rooms do not have a micowave or fridge handy. Greens and veggies i also carry but i go thru ++++, greens are also a bit easyier to come by when travelling. Why do i do it? Saves me from running around trying to find a grocery store, less stress, never miss a meal, and i know the food is cooked correctly with no hidden ingredients. Because no matter how many times i tell them plain chicken breast.... It comes back saltly with butter or oil!

Packing 3 meals for the work day is easy. Vacations with a little forethought shouldn't = blowout

As mentioned, depends on trip and on diet mode.
I don't travel much. Usually down to LA or SD that's it.
Sometimes I will try to eat as clean as possible with fast food. Others, I will pack for the drive there but end up having to do the fast food on the way back unless its just a day trip.CutlerAthletics.com

I always bring my meals...I will be out of town this wknd with the wife, and then out of state in a couple of weeks
What's different this time? I am winging it. It has taken me years to help find a balance...I am confident enough to make smart decisions....granted the meals may be larger in cals, but I will prob be eating less overall as I will be active with events....so, I I will prob come back weighing the same...(thanks for the words, coach Kev)
This will give the wife a nice break too...she's always cooking for me.Training / Prep / Off-season coach: Kevin McDowell / Extreme One

I packed up all my meals for a meeting that took me out of my office all day yesterday. Not much of an issue if you plan ahead. Terrific posts here. But we forgot the ever thought provoking phrase.
