2014 Mr. Olympia – John Hansen's Predictions
2014 Mr. Olympia – John Hansen's Predictions
In stark contrast to the eagerly anticipated excitement that accompanied the 2013 Mr. Olympia, this year’s event has snuck up on us with little fanfare or media “buzz”. The ads for this year’s biggest event in bodybuilding have more to do with the 50th Mr. Olympia contest than the actual specific competition.

Great article by John Hansen. Didn't expect this call. Would be amazing if this prediction comes to pass.

Great article but come on, Branch in 13th and Phil losing? There's no way Branch will be relegated out of the top 10 or the top 6, just not how this game works. Unless Branch comes in the worst shape of his life.
Everyone seems to think Kai will win with his size but I think Phil has got such a grasp on the title now that the only way he loses is if he really comes in off, which he never does. He's always on and he always peaks perfectly.

Yeah, but it's like looking at the world through some sci-fi parallel universe telescope. HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?

For me, one of the highlights will be seeing Martinez,De la Rosa and Morel together on the Olympia stage. I remember when Victor used to talk about Jon and Juan being future top tier pros and they have finally achieved that and get to stand on stage with a guy who was in some ways a role model.

If you read the mags, there's been a lot of advance hype on this contest. Phil looks bigger & badder than ever, but so do Kai & several others in the dance. As for the 212, Flex is big as a house & after taking one more this year says he plans to take a year off & come back in the open. I predict he'll hit the stage at about 240 in 2016. As for the women, I'm watching the WPD matchup between Juliana & Dana Linn.

Well thought our reasonings John. Obviously we're all fans and go in with our own preconceived ideas of where competitors will fall, but I'm reading your article and finding that I'm nodding my head along with all of your rationalizations.
Good piece.

There is no way Kai is winning the Mr. O. However if he were to shave off that giant weaved rat tail and act like less of a male stripper on stage, he might stand a chance. I'm more excited to see how the WPD does of course.

I agree with most of John Hansen's predictions. Don't think that Dexter will place fourth though.

It is funny I have been saying the same thing about Phil Heath's possible slip this year. No Mr. O has looked his best 4years in a row. Ronnie lost in 2001 but given title, dorian torn bicep and eeking out a victory, lee hany had very close call, and the list goesa on. Now I am rooting for Phil but the judges are now liking upsets. It is in fashion now. If phil is off he will lose this year. If he is same as last year he will win. I think Juan morel has chance to break top 10 this year with his added size, and I agree Branch may be out of top 10 his body just not responding as well now. I also think big Ramy has chance to crack top three and definitely will earn a top 5 placing as long as DJ doesn't bring him in flat which is a little bit of a trend for him. this Olympia will be a great show, can't wait towatch!

phil edges Kai out this year regardless of Hansens predictions. Kai has improved but Phil has too, which he absolutely had to do this year to stay ahead of an ever improving Kai.
