Granted, bodybuilding is not easy. It demands discipline and a dedication to a regimen of lifting, protein consumption, and sleep (because your muscles actually grow while you’re sleeping) that few are able to maintain. But today, the country is in the throes of a Crossfit craze — new boxes seem to spring up in D.C.’s rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods quicker than crabgrass grows in its languishing ones. But even with its focus on Olympic-style weightlifting, Crossfit aims for functional strength, not just traps that look as though you’ve got two skin-covered mountains erupting from your clavicle.
I hate the term "functional strength"...especially when it is used to promote crossfit.
There isn't one thing done in crossfit that somehow translates to everyday movements any better than a guy focusing on squats, bench presses and overhead presses.
You are "functional" for many things you don't train specifically for.

The Washington Post Morning Mix piece was written this year, but they used pics of Markus Ruhl at FIBO -- what year was that shot taken? -- and quoted bits from the Bryant Gumble interview with Colette Nelson on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel... which aired July of 2010!
Nothing at all against Markus Ruhl or Colette Nelson, but, what, the author couldn't get recent pics or any quotes from current competitors?Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

Look I don't care if they go at it and I hope they do that again and again. It just makes them work harder and their coaches get to work harder also thus resulting them bringing a much better show every year.
Now as far as the fans yelling shit during the conference, I think they need to STFU. Because one day, two stupid people, will get in a fight and it will just ruin a lot of things for a lot of people. Just shut up and watch the show. You are not on the stage, you are not dieting for the Olympia, hell they are probably barely a "bodybuilder".Last edited by MITM; 09-27-2014 at 04:24 PM.

Thank you. I mean these guys are under a lot more pressure than people think that. Just because in bodybuilding you are not hitting the other component like you do in boxing or MMA it doesn't mean that you don't want to crush, destroy, and demolish your competition.
I hope this kind of arguments go on forever because the conference has always been boring and they TRY to make these guys are and now that they are the fans are "WTF" or "so unprofessional".
Then please do us a favor and post useful articles for all of us to enjoy here at RX.

^Why? RX is choosing to publish crap like this instead lol.
And might I add, "None of the above" is in the lead on the poll.

If your star is rising , why do so many people argue and dislike you ?? I don't have a prob with the articles because I rarely ready any from anyone. All I'm saying is , why do you continue to argue and make people hate you if your trying to get on with flex or MD mags? Because if your not writing for their mags, no one is reading anything. And if people hate you , they prob won't purchase the mag that you write for. I respect the fact that you write and are enthused about the sport . I just think you troll to much . Which I hope doesn't hurt you in the future with your journalist career.

Christian, it doesn't matter what Peter says.....I've been friends with him for a long time and he likes my writings as well as many other people. It doesn't mean that you're on your way and quite frankly I would be more concerned about another Former Editor In Chief Of Muscular Development...that being Dave Palumbo because he's the ones that signs your paycheck....NOT PETER MCGOUGH.
You can call others up here internet trolls but the only one who actually is trolling is me....and I'm quite proud of it because my writing specialty is satire and my site Anabolic Mayhem caters to the internet assholes, outsiders, and Getbigger terrorists. However, you write an offensive and bias article for a website that is suppose to be the No 1 place for fair and balanced bodybuilding coverage. See the problem with that, Chrissy???
Part of writing articles is to cater to your audience and yours obviously doesn't cater to the RX Muscle audience, if it did then you would not get so many complaints.
Christian, I don't know what you do for a living outside of writing shitty articles but you'll never be on the level of Bob Hoffman or even a chimpanzee with a box of crayons. Find another occupation.
