Totally agree with Curt, as an adult you need to be the mature, reasonable one. I understand tempers flare up and I certainly wouldn't want what teachers have to go through on a daily basis, but lets face it, teachers are one profession that plays the biggest role in a child's life, I still use advice and have done as well as I have in life because of the good teachers that I have had in my life. I know there are awful kids out there, but sometimes patience and understanding is really all they need even if you are agitated beyond belief.

No, I am pretty sure patience and understanding won't get many of these kids in shape. Trust me, there are tons of kids out there from dysfunctional families who were raised by the family dog who will still push you to insanity just for trying to be patient with them or understand them.
EVIL.
It exists.
It's damn near Halloween so you would think the "666" branded in the back of their heads would stand out like neon.

No, try some of that patience and understanding. I'll be back here with the rosary and an ax.

Looks like a great school. I'd love to send my children there.

I've taught on and off for over 10 years and I feel bad for all of those involved in this situation. It's easy to blame the teacher for her poor decisions and obviously the student has and does have problems, but can we please focus the attention to the root? Where is the students parents? Who is responsible for her? What can her family and community do to help this student, so that these situations can be avoided in the future? People are always going to lose their tempers and make mistakes. History proves that. But if this situation is to be avoided, children need to learn respect and responsibility for their own actions.
I vote for some much needed therapy for the teacher, student and students family. Most of these kinds don't respond to "punishment", they need tools to help them deal with their issues.

Unfortunately this happens a lot with low ses families and single parents. Not saying all of it. It's deeper than what was just posted. I have to agree with Curt on this one.
