I think so too.
Not to take anything away from the bodybuilders of today, but to me it just seems like they paid more attention to detail and their presentation than the bodybuilders of today.
The posing was a LOT better too IMO. It's funny because I really don't like the posing music of the 90's but they did the posing so much better. A lot of the guys today use cool music that can really get the crowd going, yet they don't have the slightest clue how to move to it in a way that will show off their physique in the best way possible. Instead most of them use that "limping" style swagger, which I guess is a result of watching too many hop-hop videos. It looks awful. Even the mandatories are hit in a sloppy way.
