Good guidelines Curt. I keep thinking about getting it done, but I still put it off hoping for the technology to get better. Stuck with my glasses for now.

Had It done 14 years ago. My eyes have reverted back to the old vision, but it save d me a ton of money over the years. I will have it done again.

To answer your question, probably about three days off from lifting.

Something to keep in mind re: the "touch ups" - they can't replace eye tissue that is being "touched up" - they can only remove it. The more you remove, the more unstable the eyeball itself becomes. It also degenerates as a matter of aging. Just a note on how the correction is actually made.

I get this sort of info regularly from my brother & his wife who are optometrists. I've gotten evaluated for both lasik & RK (back in the day) and this is the sort of stuff my brother raises every time I've mentioned I was interested over the years. I've been wearing glasses since I was about 11 and still wear rigid contact lenses. Obviously it works for many people, but I suspect there are more than advertised issues w/ it. Just something to be aware of.

Are you near sighted of far sighted? I started wearing glasses freshman year of college. I thought I would go years without having to wear them. Come to think of it, I may have had some pre existing condition that ties into me needing glasses and my formerly frequent headaches.

    Near-sighted.

One interesting thing is I have a minor astigmatism, so back around 1980-81 when they said I was old enough / my eyes had stabilized enough to wear contacts, I was prescribed rigid, gas-permeable lenses. Given they are rigid (but still "breathe"), they've kept the shape of my eyeballs somewhat fixed, so over time my vision has changed very, very little because they have been supported by the lens. In the last 5 yrs or so, age has kicked in and they have gotten worse. Not significantly, but the shape of the eye is still being supported, but the "seeing parts" themselves are aging. Yay. LOL!
