Are all those carbs really needed?
Ok, I'll give you a quick recap.
Met Cormier back in 05-06 at metropolitan show sponsored by Steve & Bev.
First question I was itching to ask Chris Cormier was "What amount of carbs is needed for mass". He then replied "They are not needed except before and right after workouts as carbs are only used for energy". He then said "Up your protein to 1.5 to 2 grams for muscle mass". I will NEVER forget those words as I always thought the opposite. Anyway, what's yall take on that coming from real deal? Oh and he said "20 min of cardio 4x a week".

I do pretty close to that. I frame my carbs around training and protein is 2x grams. And no cardio if mass is my goal (which it is every offseason).

it really depends on the person and the body type too. personally I think we as BBers grossly over do protein in most cases, esp if your bulking and carbs are high, 2 g of protein per lb or even more is a waste of money and hard on your kidneys.

Like Tammy says, everyone is different. I find I can't grow without lots of good clean carbs.
Now I know some of you probably get tired of hearing me mention Jays name but he's a big believer in massive amounts of carbs up to a 1000 grams per day.CutlerAthletics.com

But your not going to go that high (1000)with the carbs unless your using slin and other things plus he's genetics aren't normal but also I've tried high and low carbs and keto and I've found that the bigger I've gotten the more carbs I can eat with out putting on excessive body fat.

I keep mine moderate when trying to grow, currently i'm a pretty lean 160, and I keep fat to about 80 grams a day carbs at about 200 and protein at about 240. So thats 1.5 grams of protein per pound, and 1.2 crams of carbs plus .5 grams of fat. Works well for me. Some days I go higher on both but not two often, but if I'm super hungry ill have an In n out burger
