Senate makes designer steroids a controlled substance

    By Ramsey Cox
    December 11, 2014

The Senate passed a bill Thursday to prohibit the use of designer steroids.

H.R. 4771, the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act, adds "anabolic steroids" to the list on substances included in the Controlled Substances Act.

Use of the steroids have been linked to deaths.
The House passed the bill in September, meaning it now heads to President Obama’s desk to be signed into law.

The Senate also passed S. 2338, the United States Anti-Doping Agency Reauthorization Act, which authorizes appropriations for the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency through 2020. The agency ensures U.S. athletes don’t use performance-enhancing drugs. The measure now heads to the House for further action.

Several “housekeeping” measures were passed as the Senate concluded its work for the evening. A list of the other bills passed through unanimous consent agreements follows:

    - H.R. 5057, the EPS Service Parts Act, exempts external power supplies for four years from energy conservation standards established by the Department of Energy. The House passed the bill in September so it heads the president’s desk.

    - S. 3008 temporarily extends mortgage protection for uniformed service members. The bill goes to the House for further consideration.

    - H.R. 3096 designates the FBI building Vienna, Va., as the "Michael D. Resnick Terrorist Screening Center." The House passed the measure in September so it heads to the president’s desk.

    - S. 2983, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Improvement Act now heads to the House for further action.

The Senate also confirmed several military nominations before adjourning for the evening.

Stock up, yup. Otoh, apparently there's no grandfather aspect to this mess. If you have it then you may face jail time.

    God bless America. :-(

    Guns, check.
    Tobacco, check.
Size of your soda pop, check.
    Supplements, coming up!

I want effective government and that doesn't mean intrusive government or a government that wants to toss you in the can and throw away the key.

That's the part that sucks, the products in the distribution channel and customer's hand all of a sudden become a big liability.

No longer can you carry your pro hormones in your luggage. Or have them in your gym bag if this takes effect. I suspect it will which is part of the reasons you see the changes in how supplement companies are advertising.

this happened to steroids, but theres more steroids on the market now then when the law came in, either they will make them in a different country and ship, or it gives the criminals more ways to make more money, and the latter is my opinion

ok pal it will open the door for ugls or make them some where like mexico or Puerto rico 100%, they wont take this laying down its big bucks at stake, only thing the quality control wont be good, what it says on the label probably wont be in the tub, the same thing with the steroid ban, first the counterfeited the legit steroid, that didn't work, so all these ugls started popping up, it will be dangerous to us the consumer

There is a petition to stop the ban... If more people will sign it we may be able to stop it, people need to use their voice to stop this type of thing. Here is the link to the petition:

    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pet...-2014/LlfvJ9Vg

This portion of the bill will prevent a workaround:
    (1) The Attorney General may issue a temporary order adding a
drug or other substance to the definition of anabolic steroids if
    the Attorney General finds that--
``(A) the drug or other substance satisfies the criteria
for being considered an anabolic steroid under section 102(41)
but is not listed in that section or by regulation of the
Attorney General as being an anabolic steroid; and
``(B) adding such drug or other substance to the definition
of anabolic steroids will assist in preventing abuse or misuse
of the drug or other substance.
