Maybe I'm old school, maybe behind the times but should physique competitors really be called IFBB pros? Kevin Levrone, Jay Cutler, Dorian Yates..they were IFBB pros. PROFESSIONAL BODYBUILDERS people gasped in awe when they waked by.
I just don't know what is happening in this world where someone wearing shorts doing quarter turns can call themselves an IFBB pro.

Truer words and nothing wrong with being old school. I'd call myself old school, too. Well, at least old.

But it's called evolution. Maniacal might call it twinkvolution. Take heart in competitors like Sadik Hadzovic. He might not strike fear in your heart, but he strikes a mean Weider pose.

I've actually made similar comments in the past. While there are a handful of MPD guys that I can respect their physiques, seeing most guys populating the ranks, always boasting about being "IFBB Pros" all over social media day in and day out.... I'm sorry, but you don't get the same respect from me that guys who win their card as Bodybuilder do.

All sorts of looks can achieve IFBB status. The federation that operates bodybuilding and its divisions decide. Half of all the current members of the NPC are either physique or bikini, which provides more support for shows to exist and indeed bodybuilders to compete. We have 50 shows per year in Florida and some people complain there isn't a show near them. If there were half as many competitors there would be a corresponding half as many shows and opportunities to compete. Bodybuilding for most is a hobby not a full-time job as it was for the guys from decades past that you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure most serious lifters agree with you.

I'm not saying a physique competitor can't be impressive in his own accord, but when I think IFBB pro...I think of guys who wouldn't blend into a crowd of people unnoticed....
