MDs Columns In Print Mag of Weider Athletes
We have heard recently of AMI/Weider athlete Phil Heath having a fictitious column running in the latest issues of Muscular Development magazine and now there is word they are continuing to run Q&As by Jay Cutler who was once signed with them, but currently with AMI/Weider. Neither Phil or Jay's columns appear to be approved or authorized by these two athletes or AMI/Weider.
How is this possible and ethical that Ron Harris under direction of the publisher apparently could be writing fictitious and unauthorized columns and Q&As? Wouldn't that be as if RxMuscle started running a column by Steve Blechman?

While the 12 pages is an exaggeration and price point may be an issue too I think the problem is this paparazzi approach to publishing. It reeks of acting out of fear that the only way to do business is having "STARS" like AMI/Weider athletes and old timers like Dorian on the cover (Feb 2015) and in the articles. If Weider had taken this scared and safe approach half a century ago would we even be talking about bodybuilding at all today? I doubt it.

Jay's column on the forums was just never taken down.
I find it funny that guys still ask him questions on it.
Then Ron has to go on and say that Jay is not here anymoreCutlerAthletics.com

I used to write "Arnold's Corner" every month in MD before my termination and never once was able to actually speak to Schwarzenegger since he was technically with FLEX. But even if he wasn't, that would have never happened. It's not as if Arnold is waiting by the phone for this guinea to ghost write his column.
So what exactly did it entail? A whole lot of nothing but because I was given this assignment, I tried my best to make it interesting for the readers. I made it obvious that it was NOT written by Arnold and did so in third person as to not make it seem we were trying to hoodwink anyone. (Well, at least I wasn't trying to do that.)
But because AMI had Arnold in the fold, we had to counter-attack with...
Quite the challenge to make something interesting when you have absolutely nothing to go with month after month. But I feel that I did an admirable job since this was the last page in the magazine (which is actually a prime position, believe it or not) and an MD employee that shall remain nameless confirmed to me that I was succeeding with a column that shouldn't even be in there.

[in Blechman's voice}
"Joe, write a great Arnold article..........write about how Arnold and Franco used to be bricklayers.... " "Write about how Arnold trained barefoot in the woods for 12 hours on Sundays!"

Jay has been with AMI/Weider since March 2014. Couldn't interview him when working Brazil Arnold earlier this year for MD, but they still have columns by him in the February 2015 issue? Four month lead time isn't an excuse as Joe mentioned he made up an Arnold column each month, etc. Its simply phony baloney to have the STARS name in the mag. Might as well have an Obama column.
