Default Bob Chic Credits RxMuscle for MD success today on their forum

I see lots of talk on other sites, not about the world of BB, but on what MD is up to. Lots of bashing from former employees, bad mouthing from those who insist they know how MD SHOULD be doing business to be successful...Funny thing is...I talked w Adina earlier in the week...and the traffic here had a big spike recently and we were trying to figure out what it was from , being that were in the off season...no shows..things winding down for the season. Turns out...the amount of talk on OTHER sites has actaully increased OUR traffic. Great!
While others are downsizing and cutting back...were actually prioritizing and increasing coverage for 2015. For those that know me...my style is anything but speaking in riddles, or beating around the bush...lol. I have no issue telling it like it is...Yes...the new MD isnt as big as the older ones. So what? Bigger isnt always better, ( I know...BB blasphemy! ) and there was plenty of fat to cut out of the old fomat.
While I realize ads pay for a good portion of the mag itself, they cant make up 90% of the mag either...Yes...some people were let go. It happens. Listen...pretty sure none of us have a lifetime contract ( except Peter...I would sign HIM for life) Everyone else has a shelf life in this business...only the ability to reinvent yourself and have a constant supply of fresh material can ensure a longer tenure.
Yes...athletes come and go. There is only so much material you can get out of any one person for a given time. Winning a show doesnt automatically make you interesting...and its certainly not the ONLY factor in retaining an athlete. You also can stockpile them. You have to be able to make room for new blood while keeping some of the old guard. Its a cost factor...basic business.
So....as we wind down 2014 and we all give thanks to those that have helped and really contribute to the success of this magazine/ website...I reach out to the other BB sites with a hearty THANK YOU!
Thank you for making our business, your business!
    And please.....by all means...continue!

Considering I was never let go and do care a great deal about the success and failures of MD, but cannot comment at their forum and the publisher and editor refuse to respond to emails I'm happy to help further the success of that magazine and website here as a double-agent per se as Big Bob mentions by directing this audience over there. You are welcome

Further note: For the life of me I'd truly like to know how calling Peter out in private over his criticizing the Brazil Pro judging panel decision claiming he knew better warranted me being told by Adina "you are more worried about kissing the Manions asses than backing up Team MD." I've waited since that time at the Pittsburgh Pro for an explanation. I welcome it from anyone over there and yes I've got a spur in my saddle over it.
Traffic is important, but I've yet to hear any further explanation as to how MD has better standing than some for allowing the berating of federation officials and leaders without moderation on that forum regardless of who you are is good for the sport although obviously good for spikes in traffic.

Bob's a great guy, strong intellect, funny, good looking and IFBB pro. I've never won an argument with him and don't expect too anytime soon, BUT he implies the magazine is smaller based on reduction of ads that were 90% of prior format and that only uninteresting pros with a short shelf life even if they won shows were let go, etc. The overarching theme seems to point to the claim that the large audience at RxMuscle has departed here to spike their traffic. I'd suggest he get independent verification on that spike as the source and conclusion is questionable. RxMuscle IP addresses didn't migrate to MD recently. Users of both sites may indeed visit there, but its doubtful they have an algorithm for verifying any such migration. Its funny though. He wins on that point. #NoBull, #WhyCutBack

I have always considered Bob Chic to be much like a giant inflatable doll. A doll that every time it is whacked in the ass with a stick, words come out of its mouth.

I think Bob is just really confident and confident that what he says is correct......at that given time. He is a survivor and the things he has gotten out of this industry are amazing.

I guess some could see that as being an asshole though?

    And a condescending asshole.

I doubt he'd dispute that characterization. In fact, if he did offer a rebuttal, I'm sure it would be offered in a condescending assholish manner.

But, you know, I heard he made a comment recently that really warmed my heart.

swingslammer, you're right. He seems to possess the ultimate in confidence.

There is no doubt that at MD things are slow(er). The OPPOSITE of slow is " things are great" when things are great you would expect 500 pages in each issue right? ok ok so you can change gears and decrease the page count to cut back on "printing" costs and go to 320 pages. They are no where near that. Remember when USA today was smoking. It was huge. Its tiny today and even though its smaller its less profitable.

MD has the right to do whatever the hell they want. They have earned that right and they have been tremendously successful. That said, when a massive wave of high profile layoffs ( athletes) are let go , its called a red flag. They can pretend all they want and try to spin it all they want, but things are a lot different for them today then 3 years ago ( different = far far less revenue) Sending out folks to play make believe and try to spin things is embarrassing for those folks ( employees) . Reminds me when Worldcom had a zillion dollar market cap and the CEO would come out and say " we are firing on all cylinders. Everything is great!"

We will know in time what reality is.

BLECHMAN's "strategy" is to do "damage control" regarding the fact that he let go of over half his athletes plus some of his writers. Rather than being honest and just admitting that times are tough (like I did here at Rx Muscle), Blechman prefers to try to hide it........and put a "spin" on it. So, what did he do? He got all of his henchmen (Chick, Soloman, and McGough) to write articles about how great MD is......WOO WOO......you know the drill.... to somehow deflect the very obvious truth-- that he was forced to "CUT BACK"............ OMG.. blasphemy.... dare I question his "WHY CUT BACK?" rhetoric!

let's face it. Bob Cicherillo is getting a nice paycheck every month so I don't blame him for spreading the Blechman gospel. Dan Soloman has the greatest gig in the industry. 35 radio shows (1 hour per show) per year and he makes more money than anyone. McGough is just happy to have a job given the fact that no one reads anymore because they just can't concentrate without being on Adderall. The simple truth is that if MD stops doing contest coverage, there's nothing left of their website? I started creating original TV programming here 2 years ago because I saw this day coming.....and I wanted to be able to provide our industry with entertaining, yet educational, content well into the future........and Rx Muscle will continue to do that more than ever in 2015!
