NBC Cancelation the product of lack of sportsmanship?
NBC Cancelation the product of lack of sportsmanship?
We already heard and read all the factors people think about the cancellation of the Mr. Olympia on NBC but nobody called this one:
I think one of the big factors for the cancellation of the event on NBC was the behavior of Kai on Press conference and on stage. People view bodybuilding as another sport like swimming, running, etc. and not as a contact sport like MMA, wrestling or boxing.
Do you agree or not and why?

lol , no . They cancelled the event cause it was shit. And they knew even the worst shit on TV would beat the ratings of it. And I'm sure men in thongs had something to do with it.

It was an effeminate hair-flip and a quasi-staredown. Hardly cause enough to pull it from NBC.
They were just probably unaware that the majority of the top 10 resembled Ferguson miscreants in various states of undress.Fill up the syringe...

on that network and they just use it as a guinea pig

Hopefully with the direction of RxMuscle towards providing more and more web television content we will see increasing numbers of shows get television network production values in the sport. With the growth in popularity of the various divisions there is obvious interest, but telling the story in cohesive fashion can be difficult if you don't have experience in this industry. Dave has that experience and passion and has been working with Johnny Styles for a few years now trying a variety of ways and means. There is continued hope for those of us that want to see coverage improve and jump to the next level.

Bodybuilding is boring! Why would anyone put it on TV?

Jerry Springer is still on the air? I thought it all went by the wayside the same as Jenny Jones, Geraldo and Sally Jessy Raphael? Who would have known?

I think we, make "bodybuilding" fun in our own little ways with our own little TV shows
A full line up of a HeavyMuscle TV Show / Fitness View / Iron Debate with IFBB pros and Amateurs and interaction with the boards / twitter / Facebook will be more entertaining than watching the guys do mandatory shots with Bob or Dan doing commentary lol

This.
I'd definitely rather watch Rx coverage of events and its own programming than a hatchet job by NBC or another crap article in Sports Illustrated. The networks and mainstream publications don't get it.
March 11, 2013 issue of Sports Illustrated
Jeff Pearlman's article on the Arnold Sports Festival seems to have been an attempt at humor or—more likely—outright mockery.
His opening line?
"I have to pee."
Forget that garbage. Give me Rx Muscle and BB.com's hours and hours of webcast come the Olympia.
And, Vince, there are plenty of Kai Greene fans here, so you can take your "As much as you guys hate and trash Kai" comments elsewhere.

I'll disagree because Generation Iron used the Phil/Kai rivalry as one of the central points to its film.
Pumping Iron had the Lou/Arnold rivalry.
Figure skating isn't MMA, wrestling or boxing either but mainstream media certainly jumped all over the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding debacle. And they're still beating that drum. This video is from the beginning of 2014.
Rivalry and drama are interesting. Rivalry and drama sell. So I'm going to guess there's some other reason NBC dumped their footage.
