    Examples?

Rhetorical. Because your opinion is worthless unless you're writing a check for those particular athletes. Or not writing a check because you think they're worthless.

The deal has to be good for both sides in a free-market system even though I realize that concept isn't likely taught in public schools.

Evan and Jay are to most other bodybuilders what Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are to most other performers.

Which by that standard makes yours and Dave's opinion worth what?

The issue was them having more than one sponsor sport.
You claim they don't count because they "are to most other bodybuilders what Taylor Swift and Beyonce are to most other performers." That's not grounds to discount the fact that they along with most all others sponsored by magazines have more sponsorships than the one magazine. Many have supplement contracts too, clothing, food bags, etc.

If we're talking writing a check then by that standard my opinion is worth a dollar or two while Dave's opinion is worth a ton.

Dave Palumbo has held his own contest, sponsored other contests, and sponsors athletes.

You have the last word. Its your forum to dictate how many words others can use to express themselves an you like Bob have all the numbers and knowledge. Enjoy writing those two dollar checks to athletes bro.

    Fat chance.

And it's not my forum. It's everyone's forum. You, me, everyone else who chooses to post or lurk.

Lol :-) Comparing me to Cicherillo? He'd love that.

I just offered an opinion. You're... wordy.

Evan should have 10 different sponsors the way he looks.. He should be Cutler 2.0. He's not putting himself out there enough.

David Baye, Muscular Development Junior Editor wrote at their forum, "I can tell you from MD's side...and this is NOT referring to Evan but rather just a general statement...paying people for "exclusivity" isn't worth much when the guys AND their supplement companies are posting progress pictures and videos on Instagram and facebook on a very frequent basis. Fans no longer NEED to come to MD to see content including the athlete. Social media killed exclusivity. Obviously the athletes are still VERY valuable to MD, but finding a solution to feature them in the magazines and training videos without having an exclusive contract will likely result in what bob has pointed to...a pay per shoot/video type of setup."

I'll say this about the exclusivity element that the magazines have benefited from them with show coverage and interviews having first dibs on interviews with their contracted athletes after coming off stage along with the prestige transferring to their other interviews with non-exclusives athletes.

If not for these exclusive agreements the magazines would not likely be at the front of the pack, but rather merely be like the rest of the paparazzi trying to get a word in with them. It would truly take the luster off the magazine interviews (not that those generate any legitimate traffic anyhow per the low viewer numbers) and take the wind out of the sails of most of the interviewers having to struggle to get a word in with the athlete and no longer being able to move to the front of the line, thumbing their nose at others with bluster over "this being our athlete." I'm not sure some of the commentators would even be inclined to pursue such interviews as these commentators are often very much ego driven believing the athlete in part helps them shine for being the voice of bodybuilding so to speak.

From experience I know that guys like Dave Palumbo have always been the most aggressive in getting interviews as I'd often have to wait in the wings with Baye and others to get interviews with unsigned guys and frankly there isn't much left to be asked after Palumbo does an interview.

The magazines where they can afford it should be careful about giving up their paid advantage if their business model continues to be build around psychophant personalities who believe they are above the fray and who don't competitively measure up without having the backing of a seemingly spend-whatever-it-takes publisher to continue promulgating their claim to fame as #1.

NOTE: Kudos to David Baye on speaking increasingly in the voice of a public relations professional versus merely another bro.

Because Dave is that Damn Good ....and asks the right questions and gets the best out of people.

I've seen other do interviews . . . not only they're boring...but very poorly done.

Imagine how good it could be with millions of dollars backing him up regardless of ad sales and Bob running interference for him

    This.

Dave is the best there is at interviewing competitors, bar none.

In another thread, "best and worst interviewers in bodybuilding media?" Dave received plenty of votes...
