Default How does one get as big as Jay Cutler?

As I do myself a throw back, I'm watching his "one step closer" dvd, I can't help but be mesmerized by how massive he is.

I mean how does one get up to 293 and lean?

Is is it solely genetics? And I hate to think it's purely relied on drugs. I know drugs are involved but I would assume he probably isn't doing any more than any one else.

Is it the fact that he consitently eats 400 grams of protein and 1000 grams of carbs and just surrounders himself to the life style?

im 5'6 at 205 lbs at 8.5% bf.

i want to be 275 at 8.5% (or whatever the equivalent would be to 300lbs for my height)

    what is stopping me?

i am just amazed that some one can get this big. What is the big contributor?

According to Wikipedia, Cutler was born August 3, 1973.

"His first contest was the 1992 Gold's GymWorcester Bodybuilding Championships, at which he took second place. He won consecutive Arnold Classic titles in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and placed second to Ronnie Coleman in the Mr. Olympia competition four times before claiming the title in 2006."

So he took second at his first contest at age 19 (evidence of potential) and then didn't miss a meal or a workout for a decade!

Okay, I'm sure he missed at last a few workouts and meals, but he obviously started out on the right foot and pursued his goal for years and years and years.

    Plus supplementation.

Genetics, "supplementation", TIME,... and oh yeah, genetics. For some people it just aint in the cards no matter what they do correctly. Jay was a big boy early on, and I'm sure getting into the sport, knowing where he ultimately wanted to be down the line played a role as well (he always seemed to have his head in the game).

    Agreed.

It's all about how good your receptors work, which is genetic and then comes everything else to take advantage of that fact.

    Mind set + environment.

    combine that with genetics.

I mean that's what I want to believe.

275 at 5'6 fuck I would love the thought of it 30 years ago.

Not now, that's a lot of weight to carry around on that size frame. It can be done, someone has done it.

I'm 14 weeks from my first show in 4 years. Ive made tremendous gains since my last show (my avatar pic) but certainly want focused or consitent enough.

I want to get give this a honest shot. I'm about to turn 26 and I want to devoted the next 3 years to getting my pro card.

watchjng that DVD just inspired me. That's what sparked the question.

My first show was at 19 and I won and the two shows after that I took 2nds in stacked classes.

so with proper mind set and believes this can be attainable.

I will for sure. I'll post some pics when I get home from work.

Looking at competing in the light heavies at the 180ish mark.

@Pmow- You're young, and obviously have done very well so far. No reason to think that if you keep up doing what you're doing that you won't keep improving. Sounds like you've got a good handle on things already.

I really appreciate it. The past 3 years where inconsistent for me. Moving to a different state, starting a successful career which lead to a business, and all the while trying to compete but just wasn't there. Even before all that I don't think my beliefes where all aligned congruently.

Now that I'm back home and in a better environment for myself, I truly realize I want this and fully accept myself for my love for bodybuilding.

Ask Kevin English . He'll should tell you how to get to 270 at that height judging from what has been claimed.

Known for reaching 280 pounds of quality grade-A beef in the off-season, the fact Kevin achieves 202 in contest condition is a miracle in itself.

Spend some of that money on your burial plot and the best, maxed out term life insurance policy you can afford. That's where you are headed, kid.
