That was an incredible time! Okay hot shot, what show that year did Dean Tornabene win the light weights, Charles Glass win the middle weight, Tim the light heavy, and Mike Christian the heavies?

I would guess the Nationals as they all went pro (though perhaps not at that meet).

Tim took the Light-Heavyweight class in 1981 at the AAU Mr. America and that was it from what I'm seeing, and Glass took the Middle-Weights in 1983 at both the NPC Nationals (where Christian was 3rd in the Heavies and Tornabene was second in the Lightweights) and the IFBB World Amateur Championships.

You were there or was that broadcast?

I remember the Wide World of Sports would broadcast certain bodybuilding shows, never witnessed an AAU Mr. America contest.

I am really enjoying Big J1's Daily Trivia* because of the added information that the various searches turn up. Who knew that Andrulla Blanchette played chess? I sure didn't.

And while searching for Charles Glass' competitive career, I found this article:

Tim is diabetic and was the person that opened everyone's eyes to the effects of insulin. That's why he's so thick in the day thickness wasn't the norm.

Didn't go to the show Curt, but it was broadcast on the Wide World of Sports. Funny how certain events stand out in your memory. (Tim must have really made an impression.) I remember they addressed his diabetes during the coverage and interview.

Tornabene was another guy with good wheels. He was pretty strong for a smaller guy, right John?
