Birth of your child or play in the championship?
In reading about Richard Sherman expecting his first child - potentially over the weekend, there's been once again the talk on whether he should leave the team to be with her, or play in the game.
So I figured I'd make a poll... If you were in Sherman's position as a player, would you play in the game, or leave to be with his girlfriend for the birth?

I would play the game, but have someone i trust take the call on the sideline and have an evacuation plan in place. Which means I would leave during the game at any time.

@ weezer, by position, I mean 1.) being a starter
2.) being in the Super Bowl
basically, does a professional event that's your (and your family's) bread and butter take precedent.
Here's another... you're a Top 6 Mr. Olympia contender with a strong chance of winning the title, or you're fighting in MMA or Boxing for world title, would you quit if you found out the mother was expecting the weekend of your event?

I ran this past my wife and she said that she would want me to play because she did not want to have any regrets ( myself and hers ) and also not hearing me years later saying "woulda ,coulda ,shoulda".

I was also thinking, you're going to be a parent for the rest of the child's life, and hopefully, a spouse for the rest of your life, and if you're in a position where you will be able to PROVIDE for them in the future, then I think you should go for it - especially if you're a major contributor, but haven't gotten the BIG contract yet that could set you up for life.
Most professional athletes have a 10 year window out of their life in which to operate, and in Football, I understand it's like 2.5 years.. so I think you need to take it while it's there.

Play in the game. I have had some sport success in my life, and thy are are only trumped by my wedding day and birth of my children. His child could have a great story, When I was being born my dad was intercepting Tom Brady for a pick six.
Generally when elite atheletes are challenged like this with conflict they either A. Play terrible, or B. Play out of their minds and have a great game.
You can't compare this to going to work for a 9-5 job. The NFL is an opportunity of a lifetime and to play in the super bowl is above that.DON'T BE AVERAGE!!!
