This to me is the rub in my posts dating back to Peter McGough's criticism of MD management back when they were even then jockeying for position relative to the Olympia. Correct me if I'm wrong. There has been no public mention of this news over there although I'm sure there is rampant discussion in private. Meanwhile they will watch this side of the aisle and anything Dave Palumbo states can and will be used against him. If only you had Bob and a few others backing you and millions in investment capital RxMuscle might could one day sponsor the Olympia. Laughable for some, but its all about the money.Last edited by Musclepapa John; 01-30-2015 at 04:19 PM.

I'm sure AMI wants a ridiculous amount of money to sell the Olympia. Truth be told; I'm sure ROBIN CHANG would want to buy it if he could afford it. He runs it... and successfully to the tune of making a big profit. The OLYMPIA should be in the hands of people who love bodybuilding; not corporate big wigs who are seeing it as a paycheck. The reason the WWE is so successful is that VINCE MCMAHON, TRIPLE H, and STEPHANIE MCMAHON love the WWE ......it's their passion; they live and breathe it......and that's why you can feel that energy in every broadcast you watch!

It again boils down to management and perhaps Dave can correct me if I'm wrong, since he was there at the time. Professor X has always been overly conscious of what the competition is up to, but I'd bet a buck that Dave and John gave a rat's cock about it and just were concerned about putting out a superior product - which it certainly was at the time.
But now with Funky Cold running the online show, it is baseless with zero in terms of quality content. So of course you have David Baye throwing shallow criticism at Dave's prices for pudding (which tastes great and didn't give me violent diarrhea, like some other products that I know).

For the mags & Olympia package yes I think that would have to be a huge amount of money, which is why maybe they would consider splitting things out? Make everything negotiable per each title and the event promotion. I don't see anyone but an existing publisher buying the print mags. Thus, no to bb.com. Not sure Skip Zimbalist at Active Interest Media would be interested or have funds after buying up Robert Kennedy's titles. Bonnier Publishing in Orlando/New York has about 30 titles that revolve around events that they manage and are quite corporate oriented like AMI. ARM; Blechman's company would seem best suited, but that may be a shortsighted perspective.
Could be nice if Mahon, Triple H & The Rock bought it lol.

Why does any one person or publication have to buy the Olympia? Does ESPN The Magazine own the Super Bowl? It should just be a show that the IFBB has on its schedule and different companies can buy sponsorships towards it.
Maybe I'm just overlooking something (I have a few in me - hey, it's Saturday night!) but this is another reason why bodybuilding will never get to the level of even independent minor league baseball.

Yes Joe you are overlooking that the federations don't put on competitions and schedule matches amongst teams as this sport is individual based with promoters putting on the events sanctioned by the federations. AMI along with Active Interest Media (Oxygen, MuscleMag: www.aimmedia.com/magazines.html) & Bonnier Corporation (30 titles: www.bonniercorp.com) are all publishers that likewise put on events centered around their titles that provides competitors, fans, sponsors and advertisers a diverse means of convergent coverage including print, web and broadcasting.
