At Chipotle, How Many Calories Do People Really Eat?
At Chipotle, How Many Calories Do People Really Eat?
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...abt=0002&abg=0
Most meals have more than 1,000 calories and almost a full day’s worth of sodium.
When you step into a typical chain restaurant, you have a wide array of meal options, ranging from fairly healthful to downright gluttonous. This is particularly true at the rapidly growing type of restaurants known as fast casual, like Chipotle, where you can order a burrito many thousands of ways.
With the help of a large sample of online orders, we set out to answer a question that piques our interest every time we walk into a Chipotle (which is a lot): What do people actually order here? How healthy is a normal Chipotle meal?
Today, we have a ballpark estimate. The typical order at Chipotle has about 1,070 calories. That’s more than half of the calories that most adults are supposed to eat in an entire day. The recommended range for most adults is between 1,600 and 2,400.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

Since the FDA has finally declared that sodium intake is irrelevant to people's health (what took them so long?).........we can ignore that part of it!
the Calorie conundrum is due to the fact that people take healthy low cal food (rice, beans and chicken) and add tons of cheese, guacamole, sauces and chips and then wonder why they get fat!

I laugh every time I'm in a chipotle or qdoba.. I see these pig families eating there and I know they choose this place because they think its all healthy, no matter what they eat.. I went there last Saturday , saw a white family of three.. The mom was easily 250. Husband 300ish, daughter who was prob 8 maybe weighed 115 already .. Chugging the large full sugar pop.. Cheese galore. Sour cream by the pounds .. Piggies

Overpriced and mediocre place to get burritos or rice bowls IMO
While it is a good place that is much healthier for an on the go meal I found the steak pretty dry and bland
if I were to travel a lot or always on the go and could not bulk cook it would be a good place to get a healthy meal on the goLast edited by The Solution; 02-22-2015 at 04:14 PM.
