The Poliquin Principles 2nd ed. goes for $15 on this site, while Amazon sells it (looks like older editiion) for $40.

Went to a "Legalize Cannibis" debate in downtown Phx tonight. Interesting .... lots of old hippies in the audience.

Are you pro-cannabis? For medical purposes only?

My concern is that "for medical purposes" - already I know shit tons of folks who have 'medical cards" for pot who don't need it and are recreational users. It is sad that the people who are apparently finding relief with it have to jump thru the hoops that they have to to find an alternative to very aggressive drugs that don't always work. That said, the social cost of legalizing pot, ESPECIALLY for recreational use is epic. As if we don't have enough cost.

Case in point: Colorado. In 2014, legal pot brought in $70MM in tax revenue, but paid out $130MM in social costs for treatment and a variety of other results. To quote the governor of Colorado, "... bad idea ..." (ref: http://thehill.com/policy/finance/23...t-was-bad-idea)

Also apparently Colorado is now being sued by the states of New Mexico & Oklahoma for the spillover of people leaving the state and entering theirs with pot or the effects of pot.

The list goes on & on of negative results from the legalization of recreational pot. Currently about 8% of the US are regular recreational pot users. To seek to increase that number will only increase the issues around its use - we can already look at the costs of alcohol and tobacco abuse. Why add more? I think many people also don't realize that the "pot of today" is not the pot of the Summer of Love (1969). That pot had a THC content of 2-3%. These days, THC content can be up to 18%. It greatly impacts the brain development of adolescents as well. Where is the upside to legalized pot?

I think there are a boatload of problems w/ making medicinal pot available in a very controlled way where the product has pharma-quality quality control and availability. The whole thing around dispensaries restricts who gets to make the money off controlled pot sales and per stats from Colorado, no it doesn't remove the illegal pot sales. Apparently 40% of the pot sales in Colorado are from dealers.

    4/30/15 - Thurs

Today was a throw away - the AZ heat finally really kicked in w/ a vengeance and overnight I woke up a couple of times completely overheated. I hadn't turned on my A/C yet as I was still comfortable w/ the ceiling fans running and I generally open the windows up for a while at night to let the house cool down before I close up everything & go to bed. End result, I woke up w/ a raging, raging headache and felt like I hadn't slept in 3 days.

I met w/ my ART guy this afternoon and he worked out some mega kinks in my neck which helped the headache, but still left me feeling nauseous & dizzy. Tried to sleep it off before training, but no luck. Just going to go to bed early and hope for a headache-free TGIF and leg day tomorrow night.

Cold in Phx? No. We had our first day of 100 F a couple days ago, and its been in the upper 90s since. Actually cooling off to the upper 80s this week. My body tends to like temps around 80 degrees during the day. I keep my A/C set at around 80. However I also tend to go to bed "cooler" and start to heat up over the course of the night. That is when the whole headache & jacked up neck thing kicked in. I've also been having neck issues over the last year - most of which I've dealt w/ but ever now & then something like this will produce some weird tension in my neck and the headache starts. This one was particularly bad to the point of making me feel dizzy and nauseous for most of the last 3 days.

    5/6/15 - Hump Day

    Training: back/chest
    - still staying almost completely off my biceps due to continued tendonitis at the forearm insertion point that I'm still rehabbing - my ART guy is at a Poliquin training this week so sorta suffering thru it. Most of these exercises are pretty light weight compared to normal, but every one of them has minor variations to hit my middle back / sub-scapula as well as to minimize bicep / elbow strain. They're definitely awkward feeling, as well as my shoulder getting tired & stiff -- really need an adjustment! Definitely gonna feel this shit tomorrow! Baby steps!
Cardio: 30 min HIIT stepmill - Because of scheduling, I did cardio before training

    super:
    - assisted pullup: -60/12 x 4
    - pcc deck w/ neutral hands (much closer on the press pad than I'm used to): 30/15 x 4
    row machine: 60/15 x 4
    super:
    - standing reverse fly: 30/15 x 4
    - seated cable fly: 30/15 x 4
    alt DB row: 17.5/15 20/15 25/15 x 2

    Foam roller

x2. We keep the house at 80 in the summer and 65 in the winter. Prefer to keep our utility bills as low as possible.
