^^^^^You are definitely not alone in your feelings. Lil Mama (Beni) just did the Europa Dallas Pro and looked fantastic...within the criteria for WP (imho) and placed 12th. The lady who won, Yasha, clearly (perhaps without the extreme conditioning) screamed "bodybuilder" to me. I do support FBB and think is kicks rocks that it is essentially being quashed. I do not support the trend that WP is taking and that the judges seem to be allowing it become a reboot to FBB. Bigger, harder, extreme all over again.
I am with you on doing it for you! While I am not competing this year, I am training just as hard, if not even more so...because I love it! I love being strong, I love being healthy and I love challenging my body. So maybe next year... when I get it in my head to give it a go again...
*Chuckle* It seems to me there are only a handful of gyms in this whole country that have the most complete collections of machines & equipment a bodybuilder wants/needs/lusts after! We (in our tribe of lifters) are always saying if we could just gather pieces of equipment together into one place...always always the bane of the bodybuilder.
Yup...I journal for me. I share entries from my actual physical journal for fun. And yay for modifications, you can do rather than sit on the sideline! Great work!

It's not really like we were expecting anything else from women's competition... maybe I'm just getting older. I still love seeing what the competitors bring to the stage - I know so many of those girls work so hard and have really, really refined their bodies. Who knows .. maybe there will be a little less negativity around the whole look if it is packaged as WPD and not FBB and it will have a more positive association. That would be great! But ... eh .. dunno. I often wish I would've been born 10 years later than I was as I'm always just a little too far ahead of things when they finally hit and become "cool", while I've become passe'.
But either way, the biggest thing I won't accept is that I should just live with having a body I don't especially like or am not comfortable in, and certainly not one that has perpetual aches & pains that keep me from being the vibrant person I want to be! I can tell I'm getting the urge to show up in the gym all jacked & lifting the big weights, but that mindset also fades pretty quickly when I consider the end result which is pretty much nothing positive in terms of people outside "the industry" looking at me.
Based on very recent changes at work, it is also becoming apparent that it is time to explore some new opportunities in my professional life as well. That is actually pretty motivating! There's really nothing more invigorating than looking great to feel great, and then go unleash that on a new opportunity that will rock some company's world!

6/28/15 - Sunday
Sooooo beat from the last 2 days of training, continued keto diet and the heat. No gym today, but outdoor activities in 110 degree weather included:
1) cleaning out my pool after a wind / dust storm last nite - I pulled nearly a 3 gallon bucket full of wet leaves out of the trap.
2) cleaning up all the branches that fell from my front yard tree.
3) Hit the driving range for the first time literally in years w/ some borrowed woods from the pro shop. Considering how long it's been since I've worked on my swing, I'd say 1/3 good & consistent, 1/3 bad, 1/3 eh. The best part was finding some consistency again. But holy crap, the heat just sucked the life out of me.

6/29/15 - Monday
Its really interesting from my 45 min or so swinging a club on Sunday - both my forearms and wrists are sore! Not in a bad way, but really telling about how much I use them & probably how tight they are in general. Aside from the heat, I think I'm going to hit the driving range more often!

I grew up w/ the game as my dad's obsession, but I've never been a regular player. The driving range was something to do, and my mom keeps threatening to buy me a set of clubs now that she's into (it's a retirement thing apparently).
I'm not against it at all - great way to meet people and get out. However I life in Phoenix and I don't relish the thought of 3 hours wandering around on open fairways in 115 degree heat. I'd be burnt crispy, passed out from dehydration and then have skin cancer to plan for. Maybe more this fall.
