For anyone interested - here's one of the images from the MRI. The black circular shape in the center is the elbow joint. The white wafty stuff circled to the lower left of the elbow joint is the tear - its like a nasty fray in the tendon. Only 40% is still attached.
Initial treatment is 2 weeks of PT (high rep, ultra low weight stuff, bands, ultra sound, ice) and a follow up w/ my orthopedic guy. If I'm not seeing any improvement in 2 weeks, I'm scheduling the surgery.

Reassessing the situation w/ my ART guy, deciding I'm going to get in touch w/ the doctor on Monday to schedule the surgery ASAP.
The "silver lining" in this is it gives me a reason to focus strictly on legs for a while and fix the stuff that still remains to be fixed if I'm going to bother competing. The upper body stuff will come out much stronger if the tear is repaired and all the existing tendonitis gets addressed.
In the mean time:

Any of the options to repair this involve at least 3 months recovery. I scheduled surgery for December 12th (awesome a doctor who works on Saturday so I don't have to burn vacation days!) I opted for this route because PT would've taken months for a sufficient amount of thickening on the remaining 40% of the bicep tendon to be reasonably "strong" again. That said, the connection is still 60% compromised and given I have no intention of not going to the gym going forward, it's just begging to get torn anyway. I'd rather just get it fixed. 6 weeks in the brace and a couple months of rehab to get full mobility again. Hopefully that will also help my shoulder get closer to "normal" as well as the existing wear & tear on the arm was probably contributing to the shoulder issues.

Quick update - I scheduled surgery to reattach the right biceps tendon on Sat, Dec 12. Hopefully I'll get scheduled for first thing in the morning since I have to do the ol' fasting thing after midnight on Friday. This includes no water. Yikes. The surgery is expected to be 3-4 hrs in & out. They haven't told me yet, but I expect I'll be starting in on physical therapy pretty soon after the surgery.
I'm training just legs & cardio right now, but spending the rest of this week & next getting my house fully cleaned and arranging things so I can get to everything I need while in an arm brace for the next 6 weeks. Once the initial pain or whatever wears off, I'm pretty much planning to keep focusing on legs, abs & cardio until I can do some actual upper body stuff.
Looks like I won't need to bring my golf clubs to Alabama when I'm visiting my folks for the holiday

MRI results:
- complete tear of short biceps head
- low-grade partial tear of long biceps head
- moderate distal biceps tendonosis
^^^^^Yikes lady! I finally caught up!
Woohoo on leaning down! I am a bit jelly. But know I need to do the work to bring my fluffy butt down. I have 4 weeks til our big vacay and hope to be a couple pounds down. Oi vay...that gets me thinking about my next prep...trying to get into that positive mindset over the negative of giving up all the foods...*chuckle*
Injuries suck it!. Bravo for getting it checked out and getting on the road to healing. I do hope your surgery goes well. I am sending on healing angels >*<

Thanks girl! Looking forward to getting this over with! One plus is I've been cleaning my house very thoroughly so it can withstand a few weeks of less-than-clean if need be until ye olde arm works right again. I'm down to just my kitchen & running the vacuum, and probably get one more lawn mow in before the weekend.

I posted on Facebook but I will tell you this here....the brace which was a cast at first ALMOST made me lose it at one point. I wanted to bend my arm so bad I was out in the garage trying to cut it off before I said to myself..."Calm down...breath, take minute to relax!". I didn't cut it off.
You be strong both mentally and physically.Gone but not forgotten, I remember you too Dookie!

Thank you guys for your support! Surgery went very well. Not too much pain tho Im still using the oxycodone to stay ahead of it. it becomes more of annoying ache than actual pain. Also staying hooked up to the cold water circulator thing to keep swelling down.
The worst part is trying to do things lefty-style for this righty. Case in point, cracking eggs for breakfast and typing. Thus short entry LOL!
Ill schedule my follow up prob by Wed and get the jumbo cast off and into the brace thing with a waterproof bandage so i can take a shower again.
The oxy is kicking in so its nap time.....

Dang, glad I got this taken care of - initially they said 60% tear but doc called today to check on me and said it was actually 85% torn. But otherwise was a clean surgery, didnt need any donor tissue and small incision. Folllow up on Wed.

Got the big brace off today, now just using the bionic arm brace. Starting PT on Friday and expect to get the stitches out when I get back from Xmas vacation on the 30th. I think I"m done w/ the pain killers and may use the icing machine for 1-2 more days. Otherwise doc said good ROM and mobility w/ no pain and mostly just a weird numbness up my wrist and to the palm & thum\b where they worked around a nerve.
