I can relate all too well to feeling beat up after ART. I keep reminding myself even during treatment of how much better I am going to feel once all the problems are gone. Sometimes those reminders help. Other times I lose my head and just start yelling at my chiro and calling him names. Remember a few years ago when Suzanne Germano posted vids in her training journal of Derik Farnsworth treating her and she was cussing up a storm? I couldn't relate then. Now I can.

Yea, ART is definitely a sublime form of torture. I first tried it around 2003 when I managed to get a "rotated pelvis" from sitting funny at my desk (not a good chair for my home office, working from home) - just sublime... And that's how I know the stuff is working... The work I had done on Ralph yesterday was definitely along those lines, but it was one of those -- like not to be gross but if you've ever had one of those damn zits that just won't pop ... that's how it felt and we were going after it like that like DIE BITCH DIE!
I will tell you tho, that the worst ever is getting your IT-band ART'd. I was exhausted and soaked from about 10 minutes of that alone.
And today, omg do I feel it.... I scheduled an appt this afternoob w/ my chiro & his magic cold laser whatever it is thing to further help break up the adhesions. (He has this hand-held device that uses some sort of laser technology to blast things - it's not ultrasound and it's not the electro-stim type thing where the electrode patch things are attached to your body).

I've actually had that cold laser thingy done to me by my last chiro. If you have never had Graston technique done on Ralph or any other part, you might want to check it out. My chiro is working on my traps, QLs, and outer quads and REALLY making some progress. Hurts and uncomfortable as fawk but well worth it.
ART on any part of the legs is BAAAAAD! I have a golfball sized knot in my left RF and like your Ralph, this bitch will not die! The other day I was foam rolling it at home and the kids overheard me talking to it, saying, "I'm gonna tell him to stick you with needles if you don't go away!" I am really getting to the point where I'm gonna take somebody with me and let my chiro dry needle me. I faint and puke at needles so this is something I have to prepare for.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

I had a cortisone shot in my SI...once. Deep joint. Couldn't see the needle while I was lying face down on the table but I passed out as soon as I felt it go into the joint. When I came to, the doc said, remind me never to do acupuncture on you." Didn't do anything for the pain anyway.
Dry needling uses acupuncture needles but the chiro and I are thinking we might give it a try on something shallow at the anterior hip and see how I do. If he does like yours and starts whapling at the needle I'm not so sure.2016 RX Member of the Year & March 2015 Member of the Month

Catching up after some schedule fun...
3/21/15 - Sat
Repeat above leg day
Cardio = 10 min stepmill + 10 min arc trainer
3/22/15 - Sun
OFF + packing for some work travel=
3/23/15 - Mon
Up stupid early for a flight out
20 min stepmill and then called to deal w/ a client problem
3/24/15 - Tues
nuttin - up stupid early because people in the cheap hotel w/ the paper-thin walls & ceilings insist on getting up at 5 am and making all sorts of gawdawful noise, working all day and then waiting an extra 3 hrs for my plane to get home well after 1 am.
3/25/14 - Wed
nuttin - spent the day mostly in bed sleeping off a potential bug I picked up from a co-worker, but yay, I beat it and got out w/ a low-grade fever that cleared overnight
3/26/14 - Thurs
5:15 pm - rescheduled ART + needle session - it was awesome! Most of my sore spots seemed like they were ready to give up and just go away! So anti-climactic when nothing hurts anymore!!!!! Got clearance to start training upper body!
Cardio: 30 min HIIT stepmill + 10 min arc trainer
20 min foam roller - even the perpetual tight spots on my quads / hams seemed like they aren't so bad anymore.

3/28/15 - Sat
UPPER BODY DAYY!!!!!!
Training: upper body "flush" - a general, all-over sort of training focusing on rebuilding the right motor pathways and not stressing the recently fixed joints Generally staying off the elbows & biceps and I haven't gotten clearance for lateral raises yet.
WU: 10 min stepmill @ level 6 - nice to see even my endurance is sucking less
super:
- close grip lat pulldown - focus on lower back squeeze and staying off the biceps: 40/15x 2 60/15
- cable rope pull over - focus on lower back squeeze: 40/15 x 2 50/15
EZbar underhand bentover row - similar to DL range between shin & waist instead of upper body: 20/15 x 2 30/15 40/15
super:
- FreeMotion cable shoulder press: 40/20 x 3
- rope OH ext - more focus on shoulders than tricep to avoid lockout: 40/20 x 3
seated OH DB tri press - again avoiding elbow lockout: 7.5/20 x 3
FINALLY some lactose burn instead of tendonitis pain! WOHOOOO!
Cardio: 30 min stepmill (3 min low / 2 min high)
20 min foam roller
