Everyone has a facial expression at all waking times, so I'm assuming you mean unusual expressions. I think it depends on the person & situation. I always enjoyed Betty Pariso's "tributes" to other bodybuilders, such as her crab shot a la Mike Matarazzo (as pictured). She would end her routines w/ this one (after getting down on her knees & doing the victory pose, a la the short Lee Priest), & it always brought the house down.

BTW Mike O Hearn always kept a normal posing routine w few smiles here and there. Jay Cutler too had awesome routines, few facials

Betty did this pose in her routine, except she was on her knees to indicate Lee was short. I looked all over & couldn't find a shot or video of it. I did see a pic of her doing this pose in a bb mag, though.

I know I was guilty of stupid faces my first couple of shows, but luckily I saw some photos and learned how to smile -lol.

People (at least me!) tend to be more tolerant when a stupid face at least accompanies a decent physique.

Now, if we can just get rid of all the g-damn duck faces on social media..

My personal opinion - I like a smile that doesn't morph into a 'omfg i'm giving birth to a 15 lb child". Generally IMO if you can execute a good presentation face that shows you're having fun on stage indicates that you are both confident / comfortable being on stage and have excellent control of your flex / presentation - i.e. you can do a 100% flex w/ 75% effort w/o starting to shake, cramp up and fall over.

Some people posing look better without a smile, & others look better with one. That should be determined in practice for the stage work. One thing I don't like is a constant toothy grin (bordering on a grimace)--I think that looks artificial & fake.

Agreed. There should be more beards and growling.

Roelly Winklaar probably has the worst face when posing... he looks like a sharpei when doing most muscular... not sure he can change it though,but it would help him if he could learn to relax his face.
