I wonder if it is mentally tough for a guy like Jay to rewire his mind after such a long time spent being of Mr Olympia dimensions. How does he cope with possible identity crisis, coupled by the thought that he is now getting up in age?

Announcing a formal retirement would be the respectable thing to do.

I got the first part about rewiring and that's simple. He's totally focused on business.
And the last part about age. He never really complains about getting old.

Not sure...but I think I get what Rocky is saying...

Correct me if I'm wrong- you're saying that a guy like Jay (with a champion's mindset) might have a tough time getting used to walking around with a downsized physique? Is that what you meant?

My personal opinion- someone with such so much mental toughness does not let his physique define who he is as a person. Looking like Mr. Olympia is VERY temporary and I think anyone at that level knows that and has to come to terms with moving on afterwards. Seems to me that Jay was very prepared for that.

Exactly...These guys have gone for years brain-wired to set up a game plan for the next show; always thinking how to improve a lagging bodypart or how to come in more shredded. Heck, I remember even myself, just competing locally, had a hard time reminding myself that there was no deadline ahead, no pre-contest protocol to follow...I felt like "Ok, now what?"

Yes, that's what I'm saying. He was prepared for this day.

It's not like he was forced to quit competing cause he just couldn't cut it anymore, and now has nothing to fall back on.

If you could only see how busy the guy is everyday. Between his apparel, nutrition co. and his personal life, he just doesn't stop.

Plus, there's other stuff in the works. Some may require that he's not so big.

I am really glad that he has been able to keep his own identity after his competitive years, and that the adjustment was smooth

false Dana have 1,3 millions Facebook fan and Jay have 5,4 millions Facebook fans. When he goes to a venue he's recognized by more people outside the sport than Dana Too. Facts. Therefore Jay is still FAR MORE popular. (I like Dana, but when people say that i don't understand them)

    Wrong.

Aside from the fact your basing your evidence off Facebook...who even has facebook anymore? Not much of the younger population. I would draw more upon youtube views / subscribers, instagram followers.

Nice blanket statement though saying he is recognized by far more people outside the sport than Dana. I love Jay, but never have I seen people line up for 6-8hours at an expo to meet him, jus sayin.
