I'm giving no one a pass on racism, but if I booted everyone from my life who's made a race tinged or outright racist remark, well, I'd be left with just a handful of friends, relatives, and co-workers.

Certain minorities have an interesting defence mechanism where insulting one is taken as insulting the whole . This actually dilutes the genuine suffering that these minorities have had to endure .

If I curse at you Mr Waylon during a heated argument and say "that Waylon ate my protein bar and should be shot" that doesn't make me anti American (sorry to presume your nationality from your accent to make a point ), it makes me anti Waylon . The fact that several thousand Americans were shot in Vietnam or the American Revolution doesn't change the concept , it's an addition to hurt you more or make my point more extreme/shocking
