PeterCas is Rx Muscle's June 2015 Member of the Month!
PeterCas has been a member for just over one year, celebrating his Rx Muscle anniversary this past April 14. Living and working in China for the past several years, Peter has competed in bodybuilding and loves the discipline of the sport. Let's learn more about June's Rx Muscle Member of the Month!
How did you learn about Rx Muscle Forums?
I've known about the Rx Muscle site for years but had always been one to stay away from forums in the past. I remember looking at Rx Muscle back when Dave and John were fired from MD.
What's your favorite part of the Rx Muscle Forums?
It's medicine for me. I spend so much time working that it's nice just to come online and chat about what I love — bodybuilding. Of course some of the side conversations are always pretty interesting as well.
PeterCas epitomizes walking the walk as well as talking the talk!
What's your take on this year's Mr. Olympia? Do you see anyone unseating Heath as the champion?
My heart is with Kai but my wallet is with Phil. There's a lot of talk about Ramy but I get the sense that Ramy and his crack team are going to need some time to figure his body out. Him pulling out of the NY Pro has given me doubts... but what do I know?
Height and weight?
5'8" and right now around 225.
How were you introduced to the weights?
I had an uncle that gave me an old set of weights when I was about 17. I put them in my basement and started experimenting.
What is your favorite part of the iron game – strongman, bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Bikini, etc.?
Bodybuilding.
What's your favorite thing about bodybuilding?
Bodybuilding is a very unique sport. It requires a high level of discipline in and out of the gym. That's what makes it special for me and that's what I love most about the sport.
What's your least favorite thing about bodybuilding?
The fact that only high level pros can make a living off the sport.
What is your goal so far as the weights go?
I just enjoy being a little bigger than the average guy. I may compete again later this year... but am still not sure about that.
So you've competed. When did that take place?
Yes. Between 2006 and 2008 I competed a few times. Decided to shut it down when I moved to Asia in 2009.
Are there any opportunities for you to compete in Asia?
There is a show in HK every year. I think in July. Not going to happen this year but very likely that I will do the show next year. There are some very good bodybuilders in HK and I am looking forward to competing against them.
Do you have any favorite bodybuilders or strength athletes?
I guess my favorite physique of all time would be Kevin Levrone.
Did you emulate anyone when you first became involved in the iron game?
No one in particular.
Who is someone you look forward to meeting and perhaps picking their brain?
Good question! Honestly, I'm not sure if my first choice would be someone in our industry but if I had to pick someone in our industry... without a doubt it would be Chris Aceto. I admire the hell out of that guy.
I can see why you'd admire him from a business sense as well as a bodybuilding perspective. What's one question you'd ask Chris Aceto?
There isn't one particular question I would have for Chris. I would really just enjoy a casual chat. As someone with a mix of multiple business interests and a love for bodybuilding, I think we may have a lot in common.
What has been the most effective workout you’ve followed?
For me, it's a mix of high to moderate rep ranges. My training split would be as follows:
Day 1: Back
Day 2: Arms
Day 3: Delts
Day 4: Rest
Day 5: Legs
Day 6:Chest
Day 7: Rest
Nothing special, really. I like to change up the exercises pretty regularly so my workouts are always a little different.
What supplement company or brand does it right?
I don't use a ton of supplements. For the most part just whey protein and if I'm trying to get a little bigger I will use weight gainer. I've been buying Optimum Nutrition's whey protein for years and when I go for the weight gainer it's usually BSN.
Favorite TV show?
House of Cards.
Pick three things you couldn't live without.
My girlfriend (soon to try and close the deal so I won't have to worry about living without her), coffee and a job (I could never not work. Keeping busy is important to me).
Is your girlfriend interested in fitness or working out, too?
She hadn't been until we met two years ago! We actually train together on weekends. She loves it and has developed a genuine interest in the sport... and really loves to train. She's a vegetarian so the diet part is tough for her, but she loves to train and I love that.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

I'm a romantic, Peter. Would you share how you met your girlfriend? What's her name?
Pam and I met about two and a half years ago. We actually work for the same company and have a lot of the same friends.
She had just moved to Hong Kong from NY and attended a factory tour I was giving in China. We met briefly that day but didn't exchange numbers or anything like that. She was working in a completely different side of the business and I didn't see her much immediately after that.
About a month later I was in Hong Kong delivering two big suitcases full of samples to the office. I was walking down the street trying to carry all this crap to the office and I saw Pam walking with a mutual friend of ours. I stopped to say hello and Pam just sort of gave me a look. I took it as a green light and contacted her the next day. We went out for drinks that weekend and the rest is history.
Peter and Pam!
What is your macro or food breakdown? Do you count calories, do calculations, and weigh your food?
I used to count calories/macros like it was my job. I do things differently now. Basically, I just make sure I get enough protein on a daily basis (between 280-300 grams a day). I will adjust my carbohydrate/fat intake based on how I look each morning. If i want to tighten up I will restrict my carb intake and boost my fat intake a bit. If I'm trying to fill out, I will do the opposite.
Other than hitting the iron, what do you enjoy doing the most with your free time?
Watching movies at home with my girlfriend. I have so little free time these days that when I have an opportunity to stay home... I take it.
Do you have a favorite movie?
The Shining.
Are you finding any interest in the current superhero movie craze? Age of Ultron was awesome and I'm really looking foward to Batman v. Superman and, of course, the new Star Wars at the end of this year!
Love it all but I'm a casual fan. I'm the kind of guy that will go see any superhero related movie once it's in the theatre... but at the same time have no idea what's coming out in the next 6 months. Btw, going to a movie in HK is great! The theaters are small, have reserved seats that are huge and very comfy... and some have a full bar.
That sounds amazing!
Can you say anything about your occupation?
I'll give you the gist of it because if I went into detail you'd fall asleep reading this. I work for a very large, Chinese owned company that supplies American and European retailers with apparel, footwear, and a number of household goods. I focus on footwear and run a division that specializes in product development. Designers send me sketches and design concepts and it's my job to work with my team in China to get these concepts made into samples that they can then try and sell to retailers.
How long have you lived in China?
Just over 6 years.
What currently drives you nuts?
Working in China.
What motivates you?
It used to be money but I'm past that now. I think what really motivates me is the fear of failing. Tough to admit but it's the truth.
What frustrates you?
Working in China.
I'm detecting a pattern. lol
How much longer do you plan on continuing in China, indefinitely or do you have plans to relocate at some point?
China is strictly a place for business. There is little happening in the city that I live in (other than manufacturing)... but luckily, Hong Kong is just a two-hour drive from where I work in China. My company's head office is in Hong Kong and I also own a home there. So to answer your question, I see Hong Kong/China as my home for the next 5-7 years.
Hong Kong is an amazing city. Very dynamic. Always something interesting happening and the food is amazing. It's not only my favorite city in Asia... but my favorite city in the world. The only reason I plan to leave at all is so that I can be closer to my family. I miss them.
How often do you get home?
I go home 4-5 times a year on business. Luckily, our design/sales teams are located in NYC and I'm originally from Long Island, so try to get home and see family during those business trips.
Aside from that I try to take at least one vacation back to the States every year. This year I might make it two. Hopefully will make it to the Olympia again.
Fantastic! Thank you for participating on Rx Muscle Forums and for sharing part of your story here, PeterCas. Wishing you continued success in life, business, and the gym!

Neat story! I bet the food is amazing.
Nice call on The Shinning. What ever happened to good horror movies anyway?
Be sure to update if you do the HK show. It'd be interesting to see the level of competition there.

There are some very good bodybuilders in Hong Kong. You'd be surprised. Wel let you guys know if I am able to get my shit together and compete.
The food in Hong Kong is great....but the food in China is awful. Not like the Chinese food we eat in the States. It's something completely different. There are also no standards in terms of cleanliness so eating out in China can be scary. I try to stick to places that are foreign owned (not owned by local Chinese) or in hotels.
