This seems like it's an estate sort of thing.

Not a sleuth, but it may not be a former Olympian. Why couldn't it have been a Sandow that was produced, shelved or put on display, and then forgotten about?
Joe died March 23, 2013. Ben died October 17, 2008. I'd bet they each had a Sandow at least. And it's obvious that the appropriate (and perhaps inappropriate) people had access to their belongings after death.
The eBay salesperson could be someone who had access to those treasures accumulated by Ben or Joe. Anyone else remember the video taken of Joe's office and the Woodland Hills complex? Art out the wazoo. Where did it all go?Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

I've seen an article on it before and I know here are some high quality bronze copies out there but I don't think any, including those owned by an Olympian, are worth $10G. From memory one, ex Mr O, was sold and it went for 5G. And if I was daft enough to part with the cash I'd wanna know where it came from etc - the provenance is where the value lies.

Not true. Sandow himself awarded statues (of Sandow) in gold, silver and bronze wayyyyy back in the day. http://www.ifbbpro.com/news/history-...dow-statuette/ says 1901. You're only 78 years out lol.

states they own one too. Stating also that: SIDE NOTE: Our Sandow trophy has been featured in movies, TV and magazine ads and is available for rent. Ask us, serious inquires only via email. During 1979-1980 Joe Weider did have ads in Muscle & Fitness offering Sandow's for sale at $1000.00 ea. They were the same Sandow Trophy given to the Mr. Olympia winners!Last edited by Mobster; 06-26-2015 at 12:23 PM.

For all their faults (and there are many), the IFBB has done a great job maintaining a distinct pedigree for the best show in the business.
