"Show me the bodies!"....
As much as I love John Romano and his writing and radio skills...I think he got it wrong when he said this infamous line.
We are seeing more and more bodybuilders drop dead and all I hear is people with their heads buried in the sand blaming "Genetic Predispositions". No, it wasn't the chronic high blood pressure for years caused by gear abuse; Nor was it the astronomical hematocrit value year round in the search for more mass; and neither was it the overuse of diuretics pre contest....nope....that's ok. Its all genetics; thats why they are all dying so young.
What's it gonna take for things to change? Hearing these bodybuilders die left right and centre makes me want to not be a 'fan' of the sport any longer

There does seem to be a certain amount of denial going on in that respect. They say love is blind and it does seem that there are plenty of people in love with the juice to the point of defending the use even when that lover has been abusive to them. We seem to be adding many successful divisions to competitions lately that have been promoting a more "marketable" look. I don't think this is really such a new idea to some though as natural bodybuilding has been on that road for years.

The bodies are definitely piling up, no doubt about it. If you look at the bodybuilders from the 1960's and '70's and even the '80's, there is evidence of heart problems (many of the top pros from those eras have had heart surgeries because of clogged arteries due to steroid use for so many years), but not the deaths that are occurring today. I think we are finally seeing the consequences of steroids combined with GH use, insulin, diuretics and whatever else people are taking to be at the top level today.

If steroids don't kill people, something else will .. Who gives a shit.. If Ronnie Coleman dies 1 day shy of 70, people will blame steroids . For every one person that dies because of the assumption of steroid abuse, prob a million people that have never touched steroids dies( obviously that is not a correct fact, but you get what I'm saying) .. There are many killers in this world, they come at you in many forms.. Live how you wanna live, and do what you wanna do..

The average male over age 40 has high blood pressure...especially if they are hispanic or black.
Steroids didn't cause that to happen.
The average person today is either pre-diabetic or full blown diabetic.
Steroids didn't cause that to happen.
I agree, long term high blood pressure and uncontrolled hematocrit are big risks and increase chances of heart attack. Steroids can cause both issues.

I think a lot of people just need to accept that no one lives forever.
Your goals in life are either to improve quality of life or quantity of years. Some choose quality of life.
