Credit Dave for talking about this.. This is something that he and Chris have talked about many times on Rx Muscle Radio.. I love BB as much as anyone.. but the days of being 300 plus are just about over.
The sport has lost it's appeal... with all of the supplements being used. Crazy internet personality's caliming they take everything under the sun... It no wonder why NPC/IFBB are looking to interject some new life into the sport... There will always be a hardcore following to BB.. I just don't think it's enought to continue carry our sport..

This is the same category that is called classic bodybuilding held in many shows, including the Arnold Amateur. So the fact that they went out of their way to call it 'physique' can be viewed that they see more value in MPD than they do bodybuilding, making this an offshoot of MPD rather than bodybuilding or even a hybrid.

Im excited to to see this new division. It sparks my interest but personally I think the weights for the classes are pretty low especially for shorter guys. Taller competitors will dominate the overalls here easily IMO. Im glad to see that they will be scaling back MPD too. Im not a fan of MPD but it serves a purpose and I prep a lot of guys that really enjoy it. They have gotten away from the roots though and they guys have become much too big for what MPD should really stand for.

As far as current BBers fitting in, I see Stan McQuay and Danny Hester fitting into this. Denis Sergovskiy would've too if he were still an IFBB Pro. But I could be totally wrong.

Yes that is where I saw it - I've never been a huge proponent of crossing over in the same show if the point is to have distinctly separate categories. Pros can cross over in separate shows, e.g. Tanji Johnson which I believe Sandy mentioned, but I hate hate hate it in the same show.
