Initial approach:
- 2 weeks of PT
- follow up w/ orthopedic doc
- if nothing changing, schedule surgery to reattach ASAP
There's sort of 50/50 chance the PT does something, but I'm dubious because there's only 40% left holding things w/ the short head completely detached. That makes me feel like I'll just be waiting around for the rest of it to go at any time. But I'm also willing to give the PT a chance to be open minded about it.

Definitely not great odds for the PT to do anything for a tear like that. Then again, the PT might actually start up the healing process so when you do schedule surgery it will put you in a better place to recover quickly.

I chatted w/ my ART guy on this as well and I'm guessing I just need to go get it taken care of. Even if it does "heal" some, it's not going to reattach and I'm not going to stop lifting, so it's going to snap at some time regardless. I certainly can't expect to do any contest prep if it's not fixed. LOL and certainly no golf I'm going to get in touch w/ the ortho on Monday to schedule the surgery.
Other considerations are getting it done before the end of the year because my deductible is already paid and the closer it gets to Christmas the smaller chance I'll be able to get a friend to drive me to & from the surgery. If you can't get there, you can't get the surgery. I'm also planning to visit my parents for Christmas and I'd rather have the healing underway (6 weeks in a brace) than have it just started.
Like Larry the Cable Guy says, "Git 'er dun!"

I was talking to terry Hollands one of the strongest men on the planet he was judging an amateur strongman comp in London and 16weeks before the worlds strongest man 2013 he snapped the bicep straight off his right arm doing a 400kg deadlift anyhow he had the surgery and was in a removable cast, he told us he was injecting igf-lr3 at 80mcg and 6i.us of high daily straight into the bicep and the speed he recovered in, I think he placed 5th that year

6 weeks in the brace (which is really to support it as opposed to restrain it so hopefully mobility will be minimally impacted - stuff like trying to comb out my hair after a shower & such)

probably on the order of 4-6 months for full recovery, as noted about the injections - there are ways to boost recovery time.
