How to gain healthy weight? Please help
Hey guys! I'm 23, 5'8 173 lbs.
I don't consider myself fat, but it is obvious that I have excess fat on the stomach area. It is visible while I do a plank and it's sticking out. I hate it because it covers up my abs which are pretty strong at this point. The worst thing is that my hard work does not show.
The trick is that i want to gain so called lean weight, while at the same time i lose fat. I am trying all kinds of different diets that I've found on sites like (snip) and some of them are good, while some are really confusing.
What if I try to lose weight, so that the fat disappears, then when I've lost enough fat, start to bulk? Is that a good idea? Or should I just start with bulking now, with the fat still there?
My workout plan is running 3 times per week (30 minutes) and swimming 2 times per week (45 minutes)

You're also lifting weights, right?
And it might help to post pics.
I'm no trainer or nutritionist, but I don't see how you can cut fat and gain lean weight at the same time.

You can try all the diets you want but look at what your saying
Losing Fat = Caloric Deficit
Gaining size/srength = caloric surplus
You cannot do both at once. Trying to do both may cause you to spin your wheels and delay your progress. Your best bet would be to pick one goal, and attack it:

If Trying to add some size:
Eat in a caloric surplus, meaning eating more kcals than you need to maintain in order to gain muscle, size, and strength.

You shouldn't make blanket statements like "you cannot do both at once". That is untrue. The truth is, you can. How difficult it is to do both at once depends on your personal genetics and situation, which leads to it being extremely difficult for SOME people. But to say you cannot do it at all, is ridiculous.
Below, these photos are 9 months apart, I am 20 pounds lighter in the bottom photo, despite having far more muscle. I gained a significant amount of muscle while at the same time burning a significant amount of fat. I think that is pretty obvious. I didn't use any drugs and I have below average genetics.

How is this possible? It is possible because, AGAIN, your whole calories in versus calories out over-simplification theory, for several reasons, is incorrect. There is so much more going on in the body than that. Simple as that.
I'm interested, why do you trust this Body Recomp site so much? A lot of it seems correct but there are certainly several scientific inaccuracies on there too. Not being a dick, I really want to know why you trust that site so specifically, because this is the first I have ever seen it and you obviously really like it.
