Powerlifting; the journey continues
Hi everyone, I've been a member on here for a little while but I'm making an attempt to get more involved as I quietened down in The run up to the world championships
A little bit about myself I'm a 28 year old mum of one
Started powerlifting this year after a rather messy break up. I was used to a more hypertrophy style of training before this year but the strength bug bit me, and I'm hooked.
Currently RAW single lift bench and deadlift British champion holding two British records in the under 67.5kg cat
And RAW single lift bench and deadlift world champion with another BR in the u75s with the wpc
Next comp is full power in March and I'm a week into my peaking programme which is a cross between Brandon lillys cube and del Mcqueens squat programme. I'm very much looking forward to squatting in a meet, I was born with talapes and as a result of an operation was left with no calf muscle on one leg and that leg a inch or so shorter than the other, so getting the form spot on has been challenging.
Current PBs
Squat 145kg 319lbs
Bench 102.5kg 225.5lbs
Deadlift 190kgs 418lbs

Thank you, back day is my absolute favourite so I try to make the most of it, I didn't feel I got enough volume in with the Deadlifts, normally only go for 3 assistance exercises
Sunnyday the stack is fairly light, about 70kg, the proper lpd machine is out of order at the moment with a dodgy cable
So full stack sound more impressive than it actually isLast edited by UKdeadliftgirl; 12-17-2015 at 03:05 PM.

Nice work! I was looking for imbalances in your squat vid, based on what your medical history, but I can't detect anything. You've obviously put many hours into your technique!
Side note (food rant): Caught the comments on that vid. I'm first generation here in the US, my parents are right off the boat from Germany and those comments just tugged at my heartstrings. I was raised on non-American food, more like European/Scandinavian style. Love me some mincemeat pie, I could eat it until I puke, then I'd have room to stuff in more LOL! True, it isn't easy to find "our" food in America. Can't get decent fish and chips, the beer tastes watered down. They don't seem to "get" pickling/preserving: hard to find good pickled herring, pickled beets, sausages, dried/smoked fish and meats. Meats, dairy, and eggs will taste different to you - not bad, just different. Jams, pastries, and even honey taste different. My mom went out of her mind at age 19 when she apprenticed as a floral designer in NYC. But you learn to adapt very quickly.
If you visit, DO NOT DRINK TEA! You will gag. How one can mess up TEA is beyond me! When I lived in Vermont I drove across the border and shopped for all my favorite yummies in Canada: tea, malt vinegar, chocolates, cheeses, beer, and great pub food! I currently live near Washington, DC and there are several "old world" butcher shops I can visit when I get a craving.
Bottom line: if you do visit, stick to the kinds of foods that the area is known for, that you simply can't get in the UK. It will be a positive experience and you won't be disappointed.
End rant.Last edited by Sunnyday; 12-20-2015 at 12:30 PM.

I would definitely be all over the local cuisine! I love trying new food, the world championships are in new orleans next year and I'm going to try my hardest to be able to come over.
I'm really hungry now reading your post :-)
Oooh I bought some honey while in Portugal and it was amazing!
I think I'd get excited by white eggs in the US they're all brown over here.
Thank you for your positive comments regarding my squat :-)
It's been a combination of painstakingly scrutinising my squat videos, adjusting little things, and taking my squat shoes to the cobbler to add an extra sole. Looks odd but not as bad as the odd shoes I was wearing a month or so ago.
Today was bench for reps
Working set was 72.5kg x 8
Then dropped it down to 60kg x 10 for a couple of sets
Did some tricep work but didn't take my time as had the little one with me

You would LOVE New Orleans! Tons of great local cuisine, happy people, AND great live music everywhere you go! Them people know how to party AND eat! I really hope you can make that trip as I loved it when I visited there.
