Markers of OTS?
Dr. Nathen,
Just got my first labs done in 8 months since pre deployment in April. All looked good overall accept a few things. Not yet spoken to my specialist and wont likely until the 27th or so after holidays. Just got the labs in today from LabCorp.
My WBC was 3.9 which although in normal range, 3.4 is the lower limit from being clinically low. I rarely get sick at all so not too concerned with that in reality.
My AST(62), ALT(63) and BUN(29) as well as BUN/Creatine Ratio(26) all high which as I was taught in sports med class was markers of over training. I am also told that general training compared to sednetary populations can have higher then norm levels in these markers but the fact that all 4 came back more than just borderline high concerns me.
My total T was 435 and my Free T was 8.1 where the norm reference as 8.7. SHBG was not measured.
I feel pretty darn good considering just spent 8 months on a Navy ship in the hottest climates I have ever known. Training been pretty normal no dips or lagging feelings. Energy OK, sleep been so-so up till this week with it being the best its been in months.
Your thoughts on these numbers? I am 30 years old and in good health and take no meds. No anabolics for 10 months now as well.

Nothing is really alarming here. Liver enzymes could be better but I would imagine you could fix those simply through OTC supps. It can also depend on when you had the test done. I can take multiple days for them to return to baseline after training. In other words, for most of us, they never do.
Test could be a little better but nothing again nothing alarming. Just something to watch over the next few years. This will also vary depending on the situation, if there was any AAS recently etc.
If it were me looking at bloods from a client, I wouldnt really be worried in most contexts. This is just me going off the info you gave us though.A Passionate and Dynamic Approach to Physique Enhancement

Much appreciated. My primary got back to me an said almost the same. Nothing alarming he found. free T a little low (for the average joe that is) not ideal for a guy looking to add muscle and weight IMO. Liver enzymes and BUN always been a bit high for me for years. Cholesterol the same story. Mind you my HDL is over 100 which my doc said was quite impressive in all the patients he has seen.
No AAS or Rx meds of any kind in 10 months as of these labs so good their. Waiting for my specialist to get back to me in new year with his thoughts on the labs as well.

The numbers you report are average numbers. For a 30 year old, hormone replacement is not medically necessary with values that you have given. You are correct that people who work out with intensity do have elevated liver function tests. In 3-4 months get your bloods rechecked.
