Best Meathead Gyms In The World
By Charles R Poliquin
January 31, 2016
Many of my students own and operate superbly equipped gyms. They are private facilities featured on this site.
If you want to be trained properly with great equipment, that is where you should go. However, where can you train if you just want to do a drop in fee type of workout, and be guaranteed a top workout?
Here is my top ten meathead gym picks for the world (in no particular order). They all have this in common:
- Loads of equipment
- Heavy dumbbells
- Marginal clientele: you are more likely to find a few members of Club Fed in there than a plastic surgeon
- No string tank top selfie taking twirps
- dumbells

If your gym did not make to the top ten list, it is probably because I have never been there. Or… you don’t belong to the top ten list. Send me your info through Facebook, I will check you out when I visit your country.
Enjoy your workouts in those gyms,
Best,

Yea, I was going to call out Quad's Gym immediately.
If it still existed, might be a gym I found off the 101 heading up the Peninsula to San Francisco - it was tucked away off the highway and I don't recall the name of it when I found it around 2007, and closed soon after - it was associated w/ Balco. (Yea, that Balco). Aside from that, when I found it, it had only the 2nd vertical leg press I'd ever seen, and the guy giving me the tour didn't even know what it was for.
Quad's Gym contains the 3rd vertical leg press I've ever seen.
