Streaming Shows
I dont have any insider information on cost, but how much money does it cost to stream a show like the NYP or Tampa show?

Depending on what the promoter would charge someone to have the rights to do so, it can even be done using a basic platform such as UStream for basically nothing. I'm talking one-camera angle and then you can hook up mics for commentary. A basic subscription to their service is pretty cheap and they even have a free program.

X2, Joe.
Mike, I remember paying for a Phoenix show years back... the one Melvin Anthony won?* It was twenty bucks, iirc.
*Googled. It was the IFBB Phoenix Pro in 2010.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

^^^ Johnny working the camera/producing, etc., and Dave & Co. providing play by play? Why promoters don't take him up on that offer boggles my mind.
Probably just the hassle. Would $20-30 PPV cut into their $60 at the door? Doubtful, but maybe some would stay home and watch it for less rather than drive three hours to attend the show.
I'd guess that people from several states away (who would never attend the show) would buy the stream and add to the promoter's income rather than taking away.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

Maybe I'm way off base, but I am in total disagreement with the theory that streaming shows would kill ticket sales, especially at the local amateur level.
The 'gate' will still be there for people that have family, friends, clients, etc. competing.
Who would spend a Saturday night watching hour after hour of bikini and board shorts-sporting strangers? I venture to say not to many and that would not make or break a promoter's profit.

Petty is the new __________.
I got nuthin.
Look, I think there just needs to be an explanation of some kind. Like someone to say/show "Here is the dough that is being left on the table."
I agree that it wouldn't hurt ticket sales OR that ticket sales across the U.S. or worldwide would make up for those audience members who chose the PPV over driving to the arena/venue.
It's a no-brainer.
I'd attend every show at $20 a pop. Hell, promoters could band together and sell season tickets. $200 for all the shows? Maybe have a souvenir t-shirt (designed by the mayor of bodybuilding?) as part of the premium package!
