Imagine if Kai Greene joined Lee Thompson's federation
I honestly compare Lee's upstart federation to a company like Bellator.
We all know that the IFBB (like the UFC in MMA) are the big boys on the block, but would that stop talent from going there, for the right price?
I would like people from Rx to school me on why competition is a bad thing?
In fact, why don't these federations let competitors compete for both organizations?
More contests means more money and exposure for everyone involved, right?

Competition is a good thing. Look at the contracts that sprung up following Vince McMahon's WBF creation.
But it looks likes it's going to be a rough road for Thompson. His organization is simply not competition at all.
Where McMahon was able to sign Aaron Baker, Mike Christian, Vince Comerford, David Dearth, Berry DeMey, Johnnie Morant, Danny Padilla, Tony Pearson, Jim Quinn, Mike Quinn, Eddie Robinson, Gary Strydom, and Troy Zuccolotto, Thompson has signed who?
No one.
Even the WBF with its deep pockets only lasted from January 1991 to July 1992. Not even two years.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

It's called competition. I have always thought (I could be wrong) that pro bodybuilders are considered independent contractors.
What stops them from competing in any licensed, sanctioned event?
If the IFBB makes the athletes sign an exclusive contract, then shame on the athlete.
I am not a math major, but more federations, more contests, more exposure..........
How could that not equal more money for all parties involved?

That is how the Superbowl started......Just saying. Competing federations (working together) can create something special.

Where does the prize money come from? Sponsors. Sponsor dollars within the supplement world are finite. The challenge becomes marketing outside the existing sponsor base. Otherwise, competition simply moves the existing sponsor dollars between groups without an increase in the total. It should be interesting.

There is already a competing organization, so why not just send Kai to NABBA?
NABBA has been around since 1950 and cannot compete with the IFBB.
For any upstart to think competition with the IFBB is possible is completely illogical based on the myriad failures throughout history.

The USFL was successful for a few years and did attract not only seasoned NFL veterans, but also the cream of the crop that would have been entering the NFL via the draft. The problem was that it kind of peaked as a spring league and that's when they tried to go head-to-head against the NFL via the anti-trust lawsuit. Even though the USFL won, the monetary amount awarded was $3, I believe. That was the death knell of the league.

Does the IFBB have a current athletes rep? If pro bodybuilders are considered independent contractors, shouldn't they be free to compete in any organization? Why have there been alleged "ramifications" (I.E. Lee Priest) being placed on pro bodybuilders who venture from the IFBB?
I thought "independent" was another way of saying free?
