    I find it curious that people continue to be mislead by "if it fits your macros", IIFYM. Too often people take it as a free-for-all rather than a selective focused approach to optimization of nutrients. Thank you for sharing.

    Could not agree more. They do not establish the find ground of moderation and commonnsense

    just because it is labeled IIfYM does not mean eat junk 24/7
    meet your macros but make good choices 90% of the time from wholesome foods and focus on micronutrients first and foremost

    what has stuck with me for iifym....is when someone brought up, your cutting and eating 120gs of carbs, sure you can have your pop tarts....but that severely limits carbs from the rest of your meals for the day....so it makes it really difficult to eat a ton of junk food and still hit your macros anyway

    it sure does
    but if you are cutting hard and on very limited calories. it would make more sense to make better choices, and i would rather eat some low fat popcorn (higher in fiber) and much more volume than 3 bites from a poptart.

    Personally if my carbs are 120g. i would rather indulge with something more satisfying like strabwerries or potatoes because i can eat a lot more, feel a lot more full, then bit a snickers bar and then have my fats and carbs gone in 3 seconds.

    Now if i had more leeway and room to play with, then yes i would consider some alternatives. I would not make it an everyday thing when cutting to drastic needs. I would focus first and foremost on optimal training and setting yourself up for productive workouts. Not trying to plug in 100 things on MFP to try and fit in X or Y Food (Which some people do as crazy as it sounds)
