Has Anyone every tried Keto without re-feeds?
I know this might be a stupid question. I am just curious about peoples experiences and results. I always did two refeeds a week just to maintain, however, I am getting to the point where I can not deal with the insulin fluctuations. I feel horrible the next day. My refeeds are not that big either, usually 150-300g from brown rice....

I inadvertantley did this once. When I first started lifting at 17 I knew I needed to diet to bodybuild but had no Idea how. This was 1977 and there was not a lot of info out there.I found an article on bodybuilding in a Penthouse magazine of all places and this one guy who was ripped to shreds said he ate nothing but tuna and water. He did not say it was short term which I'm now sure was the case.I started eating can after can of tuna and a lot of grilled chicken and almost nothing else.Did this the summer of 77 and lost from 205 to 165 and really had some good abs.The problem is in my very first workout I did a deep squat with 300lbs and showed some lifting potential. At the end of the summer I could barely squat 135 for five. Some of the experienced lifters asked what I was eating and almost shit their pants.Told me "dude you gotta start eating" Back then nobody even used the word keto but that's what a lot of people ate.

Have you tried varying the carb sources? It sounds like you feel better in ketosis which is not that uncommon. Technically you can live without refeeds. Its not like you will fall over dead or anything because your body can create the glucose it needs in other ways. However, from a metabolic standpoint they are very helpful.
You might try changing up carb sources to something that is going to digest quicker and easier. That will refill glycogen quicker and get you back into ketosis quicker. That and using some GDA supps like Berberine, Gymnema and R ALA will help lesson the insulin frenzy a bit and make you feel a lot better.A Passionate and Dynamic Approach to Physique Enhancement

Refeeds aren't necessary in all honesty in this regard.
In fact, the longer you go without a refeed the more you are forcing your body to adapt and become more efficient at using body fat for fuel. Endurance is heavily dependent on your bodies ability to effortlessly switch back and forth between stored bodyfat and carbohydrates in strength sports, for maximum results. A refeed type scenario becomes more viable regarding fluid balance to ensure a proper electrolyte balance is in place due to the lack of holding water from a typical keto scenario. With water loss so tends to be an electrolyte need, however of course the overall structure of the diet and other components being used also has an effect on that.Nathan Payton
