    Default DHEA for Females

DHEA for females and is something I have had a lot of success with in many situations. It really shines in the 40+ crowd and for those with poor adrenal function.

DHEA is a steroid hormone found in the body that is a precursor to other important hormones. This gives it the ability to help maintain hormonal balance.

It is heavily produced in the adrenals and some is also produced in the testes in men.

It has been used for quite some time to treat imbalances, adrenal issues, enhance libido and overall well being. Its common place for a lot of men to supplement with DHEA but it can greatly benefit women in many cases.

Its never a bad idea to check DHEA levels through a blood draw before supplementing with it but in most cases, its shown to be very safe for women in normal doses.

Bet it is really great. Too bad it is banned by the OCB/IFPA and the IPF. Sigh.

Yes, it is too bad. (You know how I feel and what I think of the IPF and their WADA derived banned substance lists.) My endocrinologist PRESCRIBED it for me after looking at my blood labs and I feel about a 75% improvement in energy and strength with it as well.

That is an AWESOME improvement! You know I'm certainly not against the use of DHEA or any of those banned substances, either personal choice or medical necessity I respect anyone's well-researched decision. But I know as long as there's a chance I'm competing in any of those organizations I've got to avoid using them.

It definitely is unfortunate that its banned in several orgs. From a health standpoint its fantastic for many people so its shame.

DHEA is a hormone that is naturally made by the human body. It can also be made in the laboratory from chemicals found in wild yam and soy. However, the human body cannot make DHEA from these chemicals, so simply eating wild yam or soy will not increase DHEA levels. Don't be misled by wild yam and soy products labeled as "natural DHEA." DHEA serves as a precursor to male and female sex hormones (androgens and estrogens). DHEA levels in the body begin to decrease after age 30. This decrease occurs more quickly in women than men.

DHEA is taken by mouth for slowing or reversing aging, improving thinking skills in older people, and slowing the progress of Alzheimer's disease.

Athletes and other people take DHEA by mouth to improve physical performance. But DHEA use is banned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Olympic Committee.

DHEA is also taken by mouth for sexual dysfunction, and to improve well-being and sexuality in men and women. It is also used for preventing clogged arteries, breast cancer, infertility, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

I am selecting the articles but receiving an error message. Are we talking about 1-DHEA supplementation here? For my clients (who are generally non-bodybuilders), I would not recommend. Any other studies you suggest I look in to for more research like the ones above?
