upper trap strain
It's been 5 weeks since I injured my trap . First week I went to the cairoprator he told me do not train trap for a while and forget about the strain it will go away.its been 4 weeks since that time and it's still there. I went to the orthopedic yesterday he told me to take anti inflammatory pills for 2 weeks if It didn't go away I have to get a MRI. Do u guys recommend me to train traps when I have a strain ? ( low weight 15 kg max each side squeezing). If u have any recommendations on how to heal the strain.
thank you

Don't train traps and respect the protocol he told you. Then if it's gone start training them again with very low weight and slowly up the weight every other week. Or if your pain is still there go for an MRI as he recommended you. Quite simple.
Your trap won't disappear if you do not train them for some weeks.David Cua also called Donald Pump known for "making bodybuilding great again" !

Plus - and Vince Gironda would agree - traps only make your neck disappear and accentuate narrow shoulders.

I'd commit to two weeks of no shrugs or side/front laterals. On a mat on my back before training I'd work on postural things like arching my lower back, rolling my shoulders blades back, pinching them, opening up my back reaching as far back as I can with my hands together, then squeezing my lats by bringing my elbows as far in as possible with my palms facing the ceiling. Do standing bent simulated pullovers with a cable or use an old Nautilus pullover machine to open the back up. I'd also do some pec stretches and massage my tie-ins and delts with tools. I'd get my girlfriend to massage my rear delts, rhomboids and open up my levator scapulae. Also no strenuous sexual positions. Just her on top or blowing. Stay on the back. Finally, work on stretching and adjusting your own neck. Google search "upper trap/levator scapulae stretching program." Yup yup yup.

I tried training through a similar injury and I wrecked my right trap. It now slopes gradually to the floor. Lay off training shoulders bro.
