Mentzer later wrote that Casey was literally force fed and on the use of anabolics.
Casey's weight was down considerably prior to the experiment due to an injury he had sustained.

I'm telling you that the experiment was more about the AAS protocol than the training. We're talking extreme dosages of some very powerful and no longer available steroids.....except parabolin (as tren today)

Homerj...."no steriods used for this"
Makes this seem more like a fairytale story for bodybuilders than a real "experiment".....I think I'll read my daughter the "Cinderella experiment" and when she asks about the pumpkin becoming a carriage I'll say yes it's possible when it's"closely monitored in a closed door environment."
I'll believe Cinderella's carriage story any day over someone gaining 2lbs per day and not using juice!

As far as Casey gaining the weight/muscle back that easily could be true. Due to his condition prior to the test and 800 cals per day is as close to starving as a BB can get I don't doubt the validity of the weight gained as he was just re-gaining atrophied muscle. However his BF% isn't even close to the numbers posted as he looks more like 12% than 2%. During the 80s when Casey came back he was one of the biggest/strongest BBs of that time (kinda like Branch when ya think about it), and was a genetic freak for his time. Oh and at 19 I think that Casey may still hold the title of youngest Mr America ever.

And what about Casey himself do you trust him?
After all he was the experiment!!!
And according to him not 100% truth!!!!, but still an awesome experiment with some phenomenal results and definitely something to learn from.
My point is the experiment although has some merit, it did not EXACTLY go down like you think. Straight from the horses mouth!!!!!!!!

That would be cool!
Dont have any idea where Casey is these days. He left Charleston after his brief Olympia comeback>
I would say Casey would never admit other wise about experiment, but now that Arthur is gone who knows what he would say. Casey was very loyal to Arthur.
Casey would be great to get on show, he is quite the character.
Met Darden down in Florida, although you have to respect his knowledge, he came across as a very bitter, disgruntled character who himself was very negative about the sport of BB.

Interesting. I have been on his site and he seems very helpful and I wish I could go and train with him jut to see hat it is really like to do HIT with a pioneer.
I agree with the above though I DO NOT think Dr Darden has gotten even 50% of the respect he deserves.
