Good Shots of Palumbo
People often post some uncomplimentary photos of Dave, but these were impressive. Not just the mass, but combination of facets.

It's ironic the few bad shots of Dave seem to be what everyone focuses on…. Heck, haters even immortalized him in referring to bad physique bodybuilders as being stricken with "Palumboism", however what people seem to forget is that Dave was an absolute beast at a time where there were few competitive bber's that size. He knew he certainly wasn't as "pretty" as some of his competitors nor did he possess their symmetry, so he became obsessed with bringing something no one else had, close to 300lbs of ridiculously shredded mass!
While there are definitely some photos which do that description justice, in reality, I've often told Dave that he really looked better most of the time when he wasn't on the stage, I remember being with him at shows and seeing the eyes of pros who were guest posing popping out of their head when we walked by… no one was that shredded..

What are the reasons Dave was not awarded a pro card? I've read different things but they had no real basis.

Back when Dave competed there were significantly less pro cards awarded. In fact, if I remember correctly (and of of the forum historians will probably have a better answer), but I believe there were only a handful of shows where you could obtain a pro card and in some instances you not only had to win your class but win the overall.
100% Dave should have gotten a pro card……. and I don't think even his haters would argue with that… of course, there was always politics involved (just as now)...

Dave was huge back then. I remember a video of him and Jimmy the bull training, size does matter.
I've noticed one thing in the photos, maybe Dave already addressed that, but it seems that his eyes were brown back in the day and then have been blue later. Were he wearing blue eye contact lentils, or is it the lighting different and he always had blue eyes, or did he get a procedure done to remove pigment from the surface of the eye?David Cua also called Donald Pump known for "making bodybuilding great again" !
