Im dead serious how did BBers get so much more massive now than they were in the 1990's when I was really into BBing. It looks like even the smallest dude is pushing 270 at 4% which is insane? What are they doing differently?

Who's the smallest dude on the Olympia stage in the Open this year, Bonac? He's not 4% and he's not 270. At 5'7" he's about 225 lbs. on stage.

Why are modern bodybuilders so much bigger than Arnold?

Current bodybuilding competitors are about 50-80 lbs heavier than the bodybuilders from the era of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Many say that the reason for that is the advancement made in the field of sports nutrition and training, but this is not really the case. The main reason why modern bodybuilders are so much bigger than Arnold and his friends is that they are using a lot more steroids as well as growth hormone and insulin. It’s as simple as that.

Back in the day of Arnold bodybuilders were not using insulin and as much growth hormone. They were relying mostly on anabolic steroids which at that time were widely available and were from much better quality than the cheap stuff people buy online today. That’s why the bodybuilders from the 70s and the 80s had better lines and did not look pregnant on stage due to spotting enormous growth hormone guts.

Ironically modern competitors do not look better despite their larger size. Most people still prefer the bodybuilders from the Golden age and consider them better than the modern chemists competing on Olympia stage for the last few decades.

Alright man so 2%. 4% is low as fuck man. It seems like the answer is more steroids, insulin, and hGH. Did Arnold ever use hGH? I don't think he could have unless it was Grorm or whatever that shit from cadavers is called. Arnold had a great look to his physique and was not that huge at like 6'2'' and 240 lbs. He wouldn't even be on stage at the Olympia 2016.


Yeah and I agree that the bodybuilders back in the day looked as good if not better than the freaks today. I like Flex Wheeler and that's about it. They all have sunken faces from 2% bf that looks disgusting. They look sick but huge and ripped. Don't you think BBing should be about bringing a pleasing physique to the stage? I was watching Pumping Iron and even Mike Katz looked great in that movie. They were all huge with slim waists, big shoulders, and big legs with nice calves. I love Arnold's calves.
