Classic Physique: Ditch the Volleyball Shorts
I personally think the shorts take away the upper thigh tie ins and makes ones physique look blocky at the waist. I propose classic physique use old school posing trunks used back in the golden era. What do you all think?

I totally agree.

The classic trunks would definitely be better but I believe they were trying to get away from the emphasis on ripped glutes with this division and the classic trunks would still fall victim to the self inflicted wedgies.

Also is there anywhere saying that the developers of classic physique were in fact straying away from displaying glutes?

Unless the classic division starts to produce bodies like those in the OP's photo I think they should ditch the whole division. Who wants to see smaller version of the guys in the Open? What would be the point of that?

A bodybuilder 6'2 tall can weight 237lbs in classic physique.. That's heavier than Arnold weighed in his prime at the same height.
When I see a guy that looks remotely like Arnold it might reinvigorate my interest in this class. To say I am majorly disappointed with what I am seeing after so looking forward to this division is serious understatement.

I think CP is in its infancy stage and will be refined as the years go by. Hopefully sooner than later.

That's what most thought, but it seemed from the outset (that original video with Sepe, Manion and Sandy) when they announced it that it was going to be more of a 'physique' division than 'bodybuilding.' I was calling it the 'MPD guys on an extra cycle' division and feel that for the most part, I hit the nail on the head.
Sure, there are some pro bodybuilders in it and they did well, but the majority of the competitors all year long were not the Hesters or Charleses. And the NPC version - outside of that one guy who I have no idea what his name is but he was a tall black guy - was laughable.

It's not really a matter of if they are scored or not but rather what they are looking to present with the division. As the last post stated, they are looking to make it more of a physique division than a bodybuilding division and with that they may not be looking for a shredded competitor (similar to the toned down degree of conditioning they wanted in women's physique compared to women's bodybuilding). And yes, these types of trunks cover the ass but that is why I mentioned the self inflicted wedgies. Before all the suits were cut thinner in the back, many competitors were "adjusting" their suits to show the glutes. That could easily happen with the classic suits.
That is what I had heard and I would think the existence of the boxer briefs seems like a verification.WNBF Pro Bodybuilder
