Default labs from 20 weeks pre and post contest prep

got my latest labs in from quest via the blueprint for athletes testing services i use.

mid July first month of prep and then 1 day before show day were blood draws. amazing to see how much the body changes during a 20 week prep on the inside as well with these lab insights!

note the drop in T, increase in grehlin, drop in leptin, T4 drop, WBC drop and cortisol increase. safe to say that in general the natural of contest prep is not a healthy experience for the body.......but rather a natural part of getting stage lean as we all know. how bad and how long you endure that is what needs be managed and walked on a delicate fine line of course.

    i went from 205-175 and 13% to 5.5% in 20 weeks. i am 6'2'', 32 yo

i did not use any drugs of any kind during this prep nor have i ever.

Looks to be a pretty common progression in labs over the course of a prep. You should bounce back just fine!

i really hope so. i knew they would change unfavorably to some extent. just not this much. test levels and cort levels being of most concern. neither variable ideal for adding much needed size on this offseason so i want those to climb up quickly. doing labs again 8 weeks post show day to see where i am at. my coach even said that my drop/rise in these was a bit higher then he has seen in case studies with other male natural bodybuilders. more then he would like to have seen but, being young and otherwise healthy as an ox.....he too feels i should rebound in time with progressive resuming of training, less cardio and more food.

I actually dealt with this a lot several years ago. Cortisol was extremely high, test levels extremely low. One thing to keep in mind is most hormones are in a feedback loop. If you train with sub maximal intensity for awhile, lower cardio and allow cortisol to stabilize, your test levels will come up too.

Thats not to say that everyone bounces back. I ultimately ended up on TRT as my body is about as resilient as a dried up rubber band. However, MOST natural athletes I work with are able to bounce back doing the two things I mentioned above. Healing your nervous system and adrenals will be a big part of getting the entire axis back in place.

little video review i did on my labs and the means to get them done for others. also my interpretation of the results and what i feel that means for natty athletes. learning as i go since i never had these insights to work with in my prior 5 shows post rebound period.

    video summary

open to feedback on the video also. will post 8 weeks post results and video at that time.

This week Thursday at 330pm pacific time, I will be doing a Facebook live broadcast to offer my own real world applications of using blood-based testing services, information and data to support athlete/coach training, recovery, and nutrition tactics. I will be drawing on my data from 1 day before my last (Nov 19th) fitness contest and then exactly 8 weeks later. Please tune in for the 30-minute broadcast to see for yourself. I will also give viewers direction on where they can get their own testing done at discounted pricing through Quest Diagnostics Blueprint for Athletes program.
