One of the few times I have seen the display activity of bodybuilding become a combat sport. I suppose figure skating had Tonya Harding what next a mass brawl at a syncronized swimming event.

Is this guy some type of badass or something. I can't believe no one did anything about it. Maybe they knew he was oiled up and had a fake tan, and they didn't want to get it on them.

Was scratching my head over that, too.

He slapped the living shot out of that judge. Clean off his feet! O.o

I currently live in Greece & I was present at the event.
The previous day this athlete,Giannis Magos won the overall at the National event of the Diamond Cup held in the stadium. Chris Pistolas was 2nd.
However the next day on the international event of the Diamond Cup were the judges had to be from various countries due to IFBB regulations,so there was a different judging panel,Chris was 1st,won the overall & an IFBB pro card. Giannis was 3rd I think (the 3rd time the pro card slipped from his hands) and thought he was misjudged since he beat Chris the previous day. He snapped and he slapped the 1st person who approached to calm things down,the MC of the event & then he turned on the judging panel and the rest you can see it in the videos.
The IFBB has officially banned him for life and he was stripped of every title and placing in the ranks of IFBB.
However there was a decision from the National Federation of Body Building of Greece. As of yesterday ALL athletes who received their pro card in Greece and ALL amateurs in the Amateur level are forbidden to compete in any contest inside or outside of the country for 2 years.

That's the decision of the National Federation not the IFBB.
However we are all in shock,all those who were in prep mode for a contest either pros or amateur mainly will see their work get wasted,without let's say being in the same stadium at that time.
I suppose this is a countermeasure to show that these things shall not be tolerated whatsoever.
Needless to say I can understand the fustration of a competitive athlete for his placing but violence is not the answer,can you imagine that Kevin Levrone was there to award a winner,no one should be more fustrated for misjudgement more than him.
The saddest part is that there were spactarors who condoned the violence,so I believe due to this sad picture the National Federation decided that a strict punishment must be enforced.
I believe that this decision on the one hand will kill bodybuilding in Greece since the other federations (WABBA-NABBA etc) lack the stature so all the Greek athletes will turn to the brother country of Cyprus for competing if the National Federation doesn't do something quickly

A final thing,I truly believe this is a strict punishment for the athletes who weren't in fault and present and I know this might harm my course in the country but as things are shaping up I feel this is something that must be addressed.
The National Federation was unable to make sure things like these won't happen.
I have no relation with the specific athlete who snapped but I know the facts,2 years ago due to changes in the regulations he was denied a pro card and he misbehaved verbally and the Federation banned him.
He competed in an other sanction but later he apologised for his behaviour and was accepted back to competed for an IFBB pro card. He was under the guidence of a very respected trainer who also works with an other IFBB pro who lives in Greece and I feel that he didn't deserve that kind of treatment,that is being the one who had to rush to calm his athlete down.

I know that David Palumbo will make a video addressing this matter and I thought you should be informed of how deep this actually goes,these events are unacceptable as far as sportsmanship goes and don't do any good for bodybuilding 's image as a general especially here in Greece.
This also shows how ineffectively everything is handled in general here in this country,was the IFBB informed that this could happened due to previous events or the National association did nothing to forsee anything?
Even worse it goes so much deeper,yhe judging criteria must be addressed as well,it is even worse than the US.
How many European bodybuilders are in the top league?
The thing is let's say here in Greece many competitors win based on the conditioning alone in expense if mass,balance & symmetry all over.
The same thing happened here.
On the national competition the one day the judges were all Greek,Giannis was undubtably the most shredded,pilled & full athlete. He peaked perfectly so they awarded him 1st place. But on the next day the international competition the different judges from all around the globe judged with different criteria and Chris who was in shape note,just not that grainy look Giannis had,presented a more aesthetic package and balanced. This happens all the time,1 day judged by sanctioned judges based by conditioning,16 hours later based on another package and you have fustration all over and I justify that,not violence though.
So you have a couple of athletes who make it to the Olympia stage like Michael Kefallianos with the same trainer Giannis had,he always comes in pilled to the bone and full but doesn't crack the top 10,leaving him wondering what did I do wrong,I worked really hard.
