Samir Bannout - 1983 Mr. Olympia (His Best Ever)

Best placement yes, but actually, Samir was better in 1982 and has even said so in interviews. He was drier and more shredded. I think 1983 was a case of the IFBB's occasional "We'll get you next time, kid" policy. Much in the same way that the 1982 Olympia had to go to Dickerson to make up for his second places at the controversial 1980 and 1981 Olympias.

Have to wonder what Ben was saying to a very upset Bertil after awarding him the 5th place trophy. If Haney had more arms, he might have been able to win but as it was his first Olympia they probably still would have wanted him to pay his dues. Jusup was mentored by Arnold and Franco but looks like he needed to train with Platz instead.
